We finally caught up on Criminal Minds last night, which involved making a lot of faces at the screen (there were some good moments in the finale, but mostly it was a WIDE variety of "you have got to be kidding me"), and then possibly some blank staring at the end. The finale was such an episode (if not a great one) that I kind of forgot it was the finale and that CM loves its cliffhangers. >.<
My no-more-extensions-for-you
30_kisses entry is due this weekend, and with luck and some focus I'll get it out later today or tomorrow. (I've had a draft of this piece finished for about a year and a half, and
seangaffney and
flamika stepped up to give me some last-minute beta help. I don't usually wind up sending things out to beta these days [;_;], since the girl had her baby last year, but I write smut so infrequently--I think the last time was in 2006?--that I always really want an extra pair or two of eyes.)
Also, all of RL friends are fully aware that I'm a serious geek, but while I was doing some polishing before sending this one out to Sean and Flamika I remembered that it struck some of said (non-geek) RL friends as weird even for me that I was taking them aside at a couple of parties and grilling them for research. *g* I'd credit them for it, but somehow I think that might make it worse.
Knuckling down for final revisions has been hard, though; I've been even more easily distracted than usual since we got back (I think I'm still suffering from con-related sleep deprivation and back-to-normal shock), so instead I've been doing things like reading Star Trek reboot fic. People keep linking to it! And usually I file "hey, this is good!" fic links into the fic-to-read section of my Memories (which has become utterly terrifying), but I've actually been following these ones. Not sure why. I really enjoyed the new ST movie, despite its substantial weaknesses (which largely boil down to "what was progressive in the 60s looks kinda backwards now"), and will probably be going to see it again with my dad, who got me into ST:TOS when I was a little kid and hasn't seen the movie yet (!). I don't really know how much he'll like it, but having insisted that he ought to go, I should make sure there's some follow-through.
