This article about LiveJournal laying off staff is making the rounds this morning, and while the part about layoffs is apparently true, word from current and ex-staff is that the numbers quoted are incorrect (the article says that 20 of 28 people were let go, but the closer sources are saying that 13 were laid off and 17 are still on staff). I'm following links and comments in

no_lj_ads.
LJ is high on my list of companies/site I don't want to see disappear, since my main online communities are here, but I'm keeping an interested eye on Dreamwidth, which
synecdochic says is still in development.
