best first date ever
♥ so we had a 16.5 hour first date and the whole thing was amazing. he picked me up at 6:30pm and we set off to H street. it was so natural. we just kept talking. we talked about our families and our travels and friends and goals. he showed me photos of his three brothers and his sister, of his parents, and a photo of his dad with kodjo nnamdi and diana rehm. we talked about what we were like as little kids. and the whole time we were laughing. we went exploring. we went to a beer garden and had some appetizers and german beer and then we went to a bar called little miss whiskey's and he had a bourbon and i had a frozen peach drink out of a mason jar with a neon pink straw and we stood out in the garden with all the purple and green and blue string lights near the fountains and the antique mirrors. and then we went for sushi and we did sake bombs (his first) and on the way to the car he just turned and kissed me. some little children came up behind us so we hopped in the car and headed to chinatown. we played the red light game where you have to make out every time you get to a red light. in chinatown we went to the red door to see a band play at the studio he practices at. the band was really interesting with a lot of percussion and noise and a stand-up bass and guitar, then the four of them singing in harmony. after that we went to his place and shared some pinot noir and watched a documentary on motown. we made out and i ended up passing out there and at about 3 he offered to take me home but i wanted to snuggle so i stayed the night. we got up at 9:30 and went to a little cafe near his house. he had a coffee and i had some green tea with jasmine and we shared a bagel with cream cheese. he talked about moving and getting a puppy and we talked about how we both romanticized trains. we decided we'd go to a fish market and make our own sushi and talked about going to the zoo together. he said that if i baked dessert he'd make dinner and we could just hang out in the kitchen together and then share a really delicious meal. we both like scary movies and thunderstorms and we talked about going to Paris together- how we'd go to the markets early in the morning and get some fresh baguettes and jam and go snack somewhere wonderful. he dropped me off at my place at 11am and we agreed to go out again next weekend. I'm not the most well-versed in first dates but this was pretty awesome. ♥
