well, if beating the hated Irish 38-0 [2003 anyone?] isn't a hell of a remedy, I don't know what is.

Yes, Notre Dame is quite possibly the worst its ever been in my memory. They stacked the line against Hart and he ran right through them, so did Minor for that matter. They couldn't get a good passing game going as Clausen was sacked 8 times, they finished with -7 rushing yards and their total offense at the half was -23. They couldn't even snap the ball right and they fumbled 5 times, losing 2 of them. Simply put, Notre Dame is freaking terrible.

The difference between these two teams is that while Michigan PLAYED bad their first two games, Notre Dame was just bad.

Mallet was 7 of 15 for 90 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions. Not a half bad debut. I don't think he was sacked once all day, and for a true freshman QB, that's what an O-line needs to do. He still looks raw out there though, and I somehow doubt he'll duplicate that success against a good Penn State defense. If we're lucky, Henne will back in the fold next week. If not, we'll be forced to go with the same gameplan as today.

Michigan handed the ball off to Hart 35 times today for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was unstoppable. When Hart needed a breather, Minor rose to the challenge and added another 81 yards on the ground. Bo would have been proud, today looked like his ghost was running the game. I think at one point we must have rushed 10-11 times in a row, and ND couldn't stop us.

Rarely do we run into a team that can flat out shut Hart down, and I don't think Penn State will be able to do it. Although if Mallet is starting, I doubt the Lions will have a problem stacking the box and forcing the true freshman to throw. That could spell trouble. But hopefully Hart can carry us to victory again either way. I don't think there's a single player in the nation that means more to his team's success than Hart does to Michigan this season.

If we can take down the Lions next week, who may very well be ranked inside the top 10, that should vault Michigan back into the realm of respectability, and give us a real chance to play a new years day bowl game or better.
