smallest crowd in crisler arena history yesterday for Michigan's BIG NIT MATCHUP against Utah State.
take a note Amaker, I hope you were paying attention. Bill Martin might be satisfied with NIT invitations, but the fans demand NCAA invites, I think that was evident enough yesterday.
Hopefully Martin took notice of this too and gets the message that Amaker needs to go and the facilities need a major revamping. We've been embarassed for far too long.
I think the team was pretty damn decent this year. But look at the big picture. Compare Michigan and Illinois season. Illinois had nearly a mirror image of Michigan's season, no big signature wins, a split with Michigan, a split against Indiana, a split against Michigan State. They may have been boosted by the fact that they only played Ohio State and Wisconsin once each, each double digit losses. So why does Illinois get in and not Michigan? Only explanation I can think of is, they've been good recently and the selection committee remembers that. Its not really fair, but you could argue that Michigan gets the same red carpet treatment in football.
Amaker would be better suited at a smaller school with smaller expectations. I don't think he's a bad coach, but he's not the caliber coach we need here at Michigan. Bill Martin has to expect more from his program. We should be striving for the sweet 16-final four every year, not just striving to make the damn tourney. Instead we settle for NIT's and all is merry and wonderful. I'm sick of it.
