why free speech does not include hate speech

Nov 09, 2006 23:59

because - i learned in government class - free speech really doesn't include words that insight violence ("fighting words"), according to judicial rulings and some legislation. neither is slander, which nazi sentiment can be applied to, because it's malicious lies about blacks, jews, gays, hispanics. lies are *technically* not protected under free speech, although our leaders lie all the time, like, every day.

ANYWAY, it shouldn't include it, either. the original intention of allowing free speech was freedom to critize the government.

we, in the ISO, get this question a lot.

also, the "national socialist movement" has nothing to do with socialism.
