Today I read an article claiming that atheism will overpower religion by 2038. I have to say that it is one of the most distressing things that I have heard in a while, and that's really saying a lot. "The basic idea is that as people become more affluent, they are less worried about lacking for basic necessities, or dying early from violence or disease. In other words they are secure in their own existence. They do not feel the need to appeal to supernatural entities to calm their fears and insecurities." How foolish will the human race become? That's going against all philosophies of living each day as if it were your last, and it only makes me believe that people are going to continue to believe that they are invincible. In my opinion, humanity needs a good smack in the face about their mortality more than once in a while. It's important to believe that there is something out there that is more powerful and knowledgeable than you will ever be. The last thing we need is for our society to become even more about "me me me". More importantly, it's important to know that there is something out there that cares for your existence more than any mortal being could. I don't believe that humans are capable of unconditional love, but that all-present being, God in my mind, is able to love us no matter what because it/he/she/whatever is not human.

I was recently talking to Tony about why my faith was so important to me, and that's really what sums it up. It is so beautiful to know that someone always loves me no matter what. Someone is cheering me on through my struggles because He knows that I will eventually find a way to fight through them. I would've been dead a long time ago, I think, if I didn't have my faith. I don't mean to be melodramatic, but it's true. I know that I will raise my children within the Christian faith, and I hope that one day they can experience the same feeling of joy that I have when I think about my God.
