The Ending Is Nigh

Actually I finished all of Maou already, but no proper time write my thoughts. Might as well continue the thoughts per episode.

With Episode 10, I felt some reluctance to watch it. Of course, nothing got to do with the actual series, but I sorta didn't want it to end yet. I chased the drama closely and knowing that there was only 11 episodes in total...it made me want to slow down. Savoring a little more of it - LOL, I don't know. After leaving it a day or two, I stopped catching up on other stuff and watched the show.

Serizawa meets Naruse as he was leaving the police station. At first, Serizawa shouts at Naruse at his doings. The usual fierce Serizawa - angry at this person for leaving a trail of deaths in his wake.... then, the tirade goes into a descent of regret... "I feel unbearable in thinking how to catch you'. For Serizawa, he knows that because of him; Naruse has gone this way, and really doesn't want to 'catch him'. Serizawa rushes to apologizes to Naruse (as he leaves). Something he wanted to do since the accident. Ensues another terrific performance by Toma. The tears welled up so heartbreakingly. Serizawa wanted to redeem for his mistake. He joined the police force, he hoped to do the right things - he hoped he would be forgiven one day.

Serizawa: "I take full responsibility that you will go this far for retribution. So please tell me what you want of me. If you want me to die, I will do so right here."

But - it was already too late. The plans were in motion. The next red envelope was delivered that moment.

Later, when Naruse Ryo revealed his identity to Senior Serizawa, I half expected that the dad would end up getting a heart attack from the revelation. But instead, he went manage to give out his speech; one that managed to rattle Naruse a bit. The way of a parent who would do the wrong thing in selfishness for their children. "It was an accident, I'm so sorry."

The last part. Naoto was contemplating in a room at the station by himself, when his superior came in to hand him a new red envelope. Naoto was shocked. I was shocked - 'Another envelope?' - I could feel his sense of anxiety - as another envelope meant that the 'revenge' is still continuing - someone else will be dragged down; something else that break his heart.

Eventually with his superior's encouragement to fight together, he opens the envelope. There are two tarot cards.

Serizawa: "Up till now, Amano sends one card to me and the other to his target."

"I am his next target."

Ends.

So dramatic. I felt a wave of 'nooooo'...I wanted to watch more.

Then - I saw the last final preview scene for the next episode. OMG!
