December is holidays and celebrations and busyyyy time. I feel like I gathered summer and holiday all in one hit during my short trip away. Fun. Then tiredness after that.
On the eve of a New Year...mah, there is still hours to go till 2010. So, a last spot post dated this year...
Fandom land varied, but stayed lively. Especially we TK fans - while our beloved took a big break for most part of 2009, the STK forum kept up strength - we stuck by each other; posting and drooling, chatting and joking. Luckily the amazing GQ scans/interview came recently to show us he is alive and kicking. 2010 - new year must bring new projects! Takeshi, please indulge us.
Richie fandom was a mature approach. I read all the news, got his CD and movies, but I wasn't much hyper fangirl mode, as it is different without the english forum. It's become like a comfortable relationship where appreciation and are enjoyed without much words. It's all in the heart. His perm for last Dante's movie was bad, I hate the character stylist for the movie. Maybe it could be better in motion. 2010 - I hope for another new CD, even though I can't stop playing some from the last one. And bring back the rom-com.
On the Toma side. He really has gone strength to strength. In a previous post, I had likened him to a rolling snowball gathering speed and getting bigger. After completing his 1st movie come news of his 2nd, and then 3rd movie (boy, he doesn't not sleep?!). Movies is not uncommon step for J-drama actors but he has jumped from his '1st' to his '3rd' in such a short time. Now he can be a fully fledged all-rounder actor - on stage (butais), small screen (TV) & big silver screen (movies). And the all important 1st movie has such a grand aura. The trailer for 'Ningen Shikkaku' really pumps up the flavour of the production, and brings to life scenes we've only seen as stills.
And the snowball gets bigger still. Hearing about Toma in his Yozo's image being featured on all 10 of Osamu Dazai's book cover, I was surprise. Innovative concept, yet, surprised. I mean, Toma being on the 'Ningen Shikkaku' novel is aptly appropriate, but in a sense, it seems like they are taking it that Yozo is really Osamu Dazai (as it's only a semi-autobio), and therefore this Toma has a reason to be the face of the rest of the books. Ha...I don't know, it may not make perfect sense...but hey, it's Toma!! And I also feel a little proud - as it seems like he is also stepping into the literary world as well. Not in the normal way, but book readers will notice this guy (if they haven't yet), and wonder why he is on the new editions, and find out that he is playing Yozo of Ningen, and perhaps will be curious enough to go see the movie. More exposure for our Toma. Yatta! 2010- is all movies for Toma fandom, but since he has finished filming for those, I'm looking forward to a new drama. Majosaiban seemed so long ago. I wish for fun, crazy smiley Toma show.
My J-drama watched list increased greatly. I ventured into non-familiar cast dramas. And enjoyed quite many of them. Finished off 'Tokyo DOGS' and started on TVB's 'Beyond The Realm of Conscience'. Didn't think I like it, but it's getting addictive. I haven't given up on TVB yet. And I have been holding off Liar Game 2 until all the eps are out. I don't want to be left hanging. So I can't wait.
And some random rambles to suit the blog theme.
TOMA X SNOOPY Part #2!!
After the Loveless Snoopy jacket, there comes another Snoopy appearance. Myojo Feb 2010 issue (credit: hpswf1 at
ikuta_toma). Oh, is that like art imitates life, life imitates art. Not sure if that is even right, lol. So, my Snoopy must run back from the TK fandom (the latest Java Teas are really cute) to prepare for forensic or jury duty....heee... ^-^
Just saw this yesterday at
Asian Entertainment Universe. Arashi promotion of their new drama at Tokyo Metro Omodesando Station.
Ah, I really thought it was a pretty good concept. For people like me, who isn't truly in their fandom will still look twice at the posters if I came across them. Not necessarily because the guys are shirtless...but they are indeed eye catching. And the ropes binding the bottom of the column gives an extra touch of innovation to the advertisement. They do look trapped/tied. But, then the bare torso plus being binded and gagged looks SM-ish. They could have worn clothes. Hehe, I wonder how much their fans want to pinch the posters.
So then, everyone,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
OH OH...and seems to be news about Toma appearing on Oguri's ANN on the 29th/30th. He made another visit before the year ended?!11th visit!
