I'm talking about Daiki and Ryosuke in 'Voice'.
Ha...I'm just so enjoying their interaction in the show. It just cracks a smile out of me up whenever they are on screen together. The two friends talking, debating over trivial stuff - it's Daiki getting onto Ryosuke's nerves mostly. Sometimes Ryosuke serves some nonsense back to him...(hehe, annoy him some more). Mucking around as buddies do. Daiki hitting Ryosuke as he made not-funny-jokes/talking back to him at the chicken coup (Ep 5)..the second time Daiki seemed to hit very hard. Ouch!
And seeing the two boys linking arms as they stroll over to Aki (thinking up ways to cheer her up in Ep 3)...was so cute!! Haha. Satomi revealed in an interview that they do that in off screen...huh.. LOL.
And then also - the two being supportive of each other and working together in each case. The serious modes are fine too, cos I get to watch Toma's lovely expressions.
Then, I do still enjoy the group scenes of all 5 students together. The down time are especially relaxing and funny. Akira is always cooking up a storm, with Daiki being the stubborn lover of 'food separation'. Teppei is still saying wrong things but is helpful. Aki, tough girl warming to her classmates, and Ryosuke topping it off with his lively presence.
And so, been keeping up with 'Voice' as though it was a local TV show. Every Tuesday night is my 'Voice' night, hot off the press, always without disappointment (so far). Thanking subbers again.
More 'Voice' Thoughts. Episodes 3 - 6.
I admit, anything with a little mystery (be it books or film) in it, will keep me watching - till the end. Even a little one. If they build it up to 'who done it?', 'what really happened?', I tend to want to know the answer... that is why, I easily can watch any crime show on TV, as soon as I'm drag into the first part. Just give me an ending. In 'Voice', it works in a similar way, and of course, some solving from Daiki seems extremely smart - 'how did he figure all that?', but - I guess, I've glossed over his super skills of deduction (well...he could be just that smart), and just taken in the story that is woven from the initial clues.
Episode 3 was Aki's story arc. A new autopsy with similar features to Aki's mother's death leads the investigation into the old case. Aki had been troubled over her mother's death over 15 years, and her path towards forensic was to know the truth. I never doubt that Aki's mother didn't love her (as there was no such hint), but all story came together of a hard working, kindred spirit mother gave an extra touching moment for the episode. It is nice that the whole group wanted to help out too - and student's sincerity even made the music-loving (grumpy sort) forensic scientist stay back to help out too.
just wanted to cap this.
Tanaka Kei cameoed in Episode 4. When I first saw him briefly in the preview, I thought it looked like him, but I wasn't sure. I think, I'm so used to seeing him in glasses in Maou, that I was still guessing whether it was him or not when he actually did appeared.
The song that Ryosuke & Fujio (Kei) sang (by the Blue Hearts) is quite catchy and goes nicely with their road trip. Fuijo's father also is the head of a hospital. So, he and Ryosuke have a similar circumstances, their plight through school to medical field has been determined, and so there is that sort of pressure in measuring up. I think Ryosuke felt a sense of admiration for Fuijo, as his friend was following his father's footsteps because he wanted to exceed him and make him proud, and not as it being a burden as with Ryosuke himself. So...Ryosuke was disappointed that Fujio has been messing with drugs, run in with the wrong crowd, but most importantly because of that muddle, he lost his life.
The story pieced together at the end was so sad. I think, it got to me, when Daiki started explaining why Fujio had the first lethal reaction to prawns when he was younger. 'To rather risk his life, than to lose his dignity'. That was seemingly awful for as a kid. And then again, when forced to the edge, Fujio rather eat the pizza with the prawns than make the calls to his old classmates. The scenes showed the happier pic of him and Ryosuke during school days. He would hate to let Ryosuke see what a mess he's made (him being disappointed) and would rather put an end to being blackmailed.
Final scene was Ryosuke finally braving up to face his father. The confrontation went calmly. Don't know whether I was expecting a dramatic Maou sort like Naoto & dad, but this is a slightly different relationship. Father Ishimatsu just assume that his son is going to do everything he says. There is no fuss, he has no ambitions that his son will be great, so there is no way that he will want anything else than things handed to him. So - dad was shocked (but no explosive scene) when Ryosuke says he going to persist in staying with the forensics. It much relief that he gathered the strength to want to carve his own way by himself. Relief to confronting his father, just pure relief in able to say what he feel...
It was also Valentine's Day. I was expecting a little more popularity for Ryosuke - as the initial description of his character was a playboy sort...although after so many episodes, it is really not that at all...maybe they meant 'popular with girls' type. But, hey, beside a little chit chat with girls at the very first appearance, there is no chatting up girls, or going out as much either(?) Anyway, so Valentines Day came, and there was a surprise chocolate for Ryosuke, but not the type I was expecting to see ...
Teppei got all dressed up and was expecting some Giri-chocolates from Aki. Yeah...no chance...lol. Anyway, Ryosuke is so cutie...why no choclates for him....hehe, well he does have one fan...
Episode 5.
Daiki saying 'ni hao' in mandarin! Cool! And they followed up with the waiter at the chinese restaurant responding with 'Konnichwa' ... lol.
There was a little connection between Aki and Daiki - well, actually it was moreso Aki who felt something...Daiki is so clueless.
It was rather funny seeing Aki hesitant about being offered an egg by Daiki. And Daiki screaming that she ate it all (he only wanted to share..). She got up to leave, couldn't talk with her egg in her mouth, waving a goodbye, mumbling...
Ah, yes, Daiki was wearing bright green (lime!) earmuffs! What a hoot! Daiki must love green. Aside from his usual green jacket, he also has a grass green wallet too!
Latest Episode 6. The story was slightly confusing as I didn't quite get the intentions of the brother. To get sympathy and a break from the routine of life/raising his sister? But this episode had lots of group interactions, Ryosuke/Daiki interaction...funny moments, so I was slightly distracted from the case (what..Daiki figured it out already..) from anticipation of more group moments.
'Brother?!'....a pause....'Brother!?' Ryosuke repeats again. I was thinking..'what a big reaction'...LOL. So, Aki's brother came for a visit. And we get to see Aki 'cook' again. It was so funny, the background music and the way she put the ingredients together was rather intimidating....I was laughing at the guy's expressions... Haha, but at least it was unexpectedly good. Yah for Aki-san!
D+ R had some friendly sniping at the restaurant with a 'food separation' issue that causes Daiki to react. But Daiki's Food Separator Syndrome does get tested and is broken by some awesome tasting dumpling okonomiyaki.
Yum!
There are just many little scenes littered through the episode (and the series), just little things that one or more of the 5 students do - that just nicely placed in the moment that just adds the humour without needing the story to be a comedy.
'Doushite?!' - Daiki's opening words - I've come to expect it straight up as each episode starts. Daiki has to question 'why' the other person does something. And many of the time, what Daiki can't understand and his explanations of it is quite true : he just highlights it to the very obvious LOL . But the things they do (probably what we sometime do in real life) is also just so. Just can't explain...! XD Although - I'm not sure about the two pencil tip myself....ehhh... But it's so funny regardless...and I love it more when the 'doushite' conversation is between Daiki and Ryosuke - cos Ryosuke will be doing something cutey pie. Then he'll turn annoyed at Daiki's questionings, and after defending himself a bit more, it just gets tiring. Oh everyone gets a bit annoyed at Daiki's persistence. Oh Ryosuke..send me a pic of the tea leave for luck. Actually..I can't say I'm into those things...becomes Aki-like...but watching Ryouske take the pic makes me smile.
Start entry with the pair, and end entry with the pair.
