Maou. Some parts in episode 3 that I wanted to write about.
There is this scene when Serizawa goes to Shiori's house to ask about the teddy bear. It's night time and it's raining. It's such a cooling effect on the angry, angry Serizawa. There is this contemplative shot as he realizes he is raging out of hand….
I was a bit googled-eyed, watching Toma looking like that. ^_^
Shiori opens the door and sees detective-san all wet. She takes out an umbrella and tells him to come inside. He asks her : "Is this the same teddy bear that you saw (in the afterimage)?'. 'Yes', she answers. He says that is all - and leaves. He seemed like an deflated balloon - everything just so helpless. He wanted an answer. He knew the answer but what would it achieve. The fact what he could do is too late.
Serizawa then flatly throws the teddy bear into the back seat of his car. He closes the door and just stands there in the pouring rain. We see his back scrunching up as he breaks down - and cries. He is pained - he regrets that it was his wrong decision that causes his friends' death. He falls to the ground in tears. By this time, Shiori had already come closer to see what is happening. She offers him the cover of her umbrella - and comforting words. The way they added an almost warm glow to the umbrella's cover over him indicates how strong effect that had on Serizawa. It will tug at his heartstrings.
I've heard about the love triangle from others who've seen the Korean one, so I wasn't too surprised that scene happened. But - eh...Shiori has already fallen for 'The Devil'. Poor Serizawa. His chances are greatly reduced.
Another thing I wanted to note was Serizawa's angry scenes. Boy, is he angry. In the police station, right before his superior tells him to back off the case as he has eyes of a revengeful person....yeap, he was indeed SO furious looking!! as he shouted 'You can still kill without a weapon!'
Another time, when he was questioning the lady who killed his friend. After some short angry outburst from Serizawa - it was the final climax when Naruse concludes that 'I claim innocence in self defense' for his client - and Serizawa just turns his face...OMG... SUCH a killer expression from Toma. It was totally perfect. And the thing is: I felt his incredulity, his disbelief and anger....but then suddenly split second later...even though he was so angry there...I was very conscious of wow - Toma you got great facial features. LOL.
The passion is so there in his angry scenes. Fangirl squeal.
They did a cool little scene at the end where Serizawa goes back to his high school. In the corridor, he remembers a boy running, and then his three friends in the younger self appears beside him, and then they walk, and his own younger self appears...ah...sounds hard on paper, but so cool while watching - and they have the accompanying dramatic music for Maou which suits well.
I've noticed Narsue is everywhere that Serizawa is. It's like you have a scene where Serizawa is at the police station, Naruse will appear. Or Serizawa is visiting Shirori, Naruse is there. Everywhere. Is that the shows' way to give equal screen time to both. LOL.
And it seems that Ohno is getting thinner by the episodes. He sorta has this baby fat, but in Episode 3, he seems more thinner. I am loving the moments that he is having some sort - it seems to me- regret/a conscience for those he's manipulating...I hope so, then I can feel more for him than ah...don't keep picking on the detective. RAWR LOL.
