Backgammon

So - I wrote this right after Ghost aired. And I know it ignores the Olivia scene and what is now accepted to be O/A canon. But I don't care. We all have our OTP. And it's my birthday, so I can post if I want to.

I should note this is just a brief little work in never-to-be-completed progress.

Oh, thanks to idledandy for the shamelessly stolen icon. ( Read more... )

Bill! It's your birthday!

(Ten points and a smackeroo if you know what movie that's from ... and no, I didn't write the screenplay.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Now, off to read the story...

I know! I know! But I'll let the birthday girl guess first.

Woe is me. I have no idea what movie that quote is from. Is this one of those things that will make me feel (even) old(er)?

It's from one of my all-time favorite movies, the 1950 Bette Davis classic, All About Eve. I've watched it a dozen times if I've watched it once. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, check it out. The movie features some of the best--and bitchiest--dialog ever to hit the silver screen.

I love that movie! ultraviolet730 May 11 2005, 15:56:26 UTC
LH and I have even discussed it. I'm mortified that I didn't get that. Eve sets up the call and Margo has no idea why.

Damn it all - you stumped me on a movie I can practically recite. I AM old.

You can always put that award where your memory should be.

Sorry...sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)

Have you read All About All About Eve by Sam Staggs? It's both informative and gossipy fun.

And, I'm ashamed of myself; I bought the DVD last fall and have yet to play with the extras. There's supposed to be some good stuff on there.

You're killing me! Sigh. I love that movie. (Adds DVD to Amazon shopping cart.) And I'll have to check out the book, too.

Bette D is my alltime favorite movie star, I think. Largely because of that movie.
