Am I really supposed to believe that Stabler, who's been with Special Victim's for how many years, would *still* be of the belief that an adult male couldn't be raped?
Oh, I think he knew an adult male could be penetrated. And I didn't even mind his skepticism about the guy, since he was apparently able to have sex with three different women. (Though the writers totally wimped out and didn't really explain the details.) I don't buy that Stabler's so unevolved that his "arousal=consent" and "But, but, he's a MAN!" would be the extent of his argument.
I've been thinking about taking all these "Stabler doesn't get wigged around gay people" moments and writing a Stabler isn't a Homophobe defense, but I can't find all my tapes and I'm still missing a few episodes.
Man, I would love that, just so I wouldn't be the only one cataloguing it. Butt he naysayers will always point to Fallacy and say that Stabler's defense of Eddie and animosity towards Cheryl prove that, under it all, he's homophobic, because he has fear of the idea of men having sex with other men.
Poppycock, I say!
