rat stuff

it was a lovely sunny day here so i gave all the rat cages a really good scrub and swapped the oldies into the freddy so the tom is now empty for bubbas. i have been worrying about Oregon and her back legs, so it made sense to put her and her pals in the freddy.  wasnt there some nutter on a forum who said the freddy wasnt big enough for rats?? and i tickled and kissed their tummys, also disapproved of by forum nutters.

as  if all that wasnt exciting enough i then weighed them all.

Washington  526g,  New York 532g and Oregon 383g.  Oregon has lost a bit but she is 32 months so its kind of expected, the other 2 are holding steady. Maggie 330g, Ruby 273g and Billy Jean 280g, my rescues M and R just dont seem to get any bigger but i am hoping BJ might she is still quite young.  Omaha 684 g, i am kind of concerned by this,  she is an active doe and gets the same healthy diet as the others.  Roxanne 455g, Leylah 384g, Rhodes Island 441g, which i am pleased about as her anti epileptic drugs can make them put on weight but she hasnt and is a lovely typey size and shape.  Now the chubster sisters Baltimore 561g, Baton Rouge 550g, Alabama 543g, Montana 480g and Tulsa 487 g but they are nearly 18 months old now.  Nebraska 483 g, Colorado 424 g, Missouri 408g, Lucille 366g and Jolene 433g.

what do i gather from this? that my rescues  almost never weigh as much as my breeder girls, that genes and early life play an important role in weight.  that my ideal girl weight would be about 440g, Jolene and Rhodes Island feel the right size and weight to me...
