Been a long time since we did the stroll
It's been a long time since I said anything substantive. So, a brief recap post:
1. Was sick for about a week and a half, right up until Thanksgiving. At first I thought I was getting better, then I got worse, then I got better for real on antibiotics. But the anti-biotics meant I had to stay off alcohol until this week. I bet work stress didn't help. I used up my remaining sick days and watched a lot of OnDemand and movies.
2. Spent Thanksgiving in Chicago with some iO friends. They made a lot of good food, including a turkey sculpture made from crescent rolls and apples and pumpkin cheesecake. Had a really good time and filled my tummy.
3. Then Chandler came into town, which was a blast. I took him around downtown, got Chicago-style pizza, met his friend Swice and made him see a show at iO (which was really fun). We also spent about two hours trying to figure out why his car wouldn't start on a very very cold Sunday, and watched Batman: The Animated Series (with "echo-terrorist Poison Ivy" and a bad Travolta impersonating gangster called Tony Zucco). He also impressed me with his Star Wars knowledge and told me I had been relegated to the ShmayQuest team on ChawkQuest.
4. iO keeps going. We have an 8 week run starting in January, which is going to be sweet. Unfortunately, rehearsals are at 10 PM on Tuesday nights.
5. This weekend I went to an awesome beer tasting which included Goose Island Christmas Ale aged in Bourbon casks and a ten year old Belgian ale. mmmmmm....
6. Still not liking my job. Still having difficulty transferring to a new department. Also, almost all the sane, normal people are gone from my department. Blarg.
