St. Kitts on Sunday
Unremarkable things happened Sunday morning, and then we disembarked at St. Kitts. The area immediately beyond the dock was like some kind of low-budget resort, surrounded by shops and fountains. There were dozens of men loitering around, begging you to take a ride in their taxi even when they clearly saw you turn down the guy standing next to them. They would follow you forever if you tried to nicely turn them down. The trick is to say no, but say it in a way that leaves no room for interpretation about your past, present or future taxi needs. That or lie, and say that you already went to the beach. Even taxi bums have some rudimentary form of logic and don't expect you to go to the beach twice.
At one point in our shopping, Ryn was approached by two men with tiny monkeys wearing diapers. The monkeys were wearing diapers, not the men. Ryn ended up holding one of the monkeys somehow, and then she gave it back and we escaped without being begged for money. We didn't get any pictures, unfortunately.
After shopping, we took a taxi to Frigate Bay. The ride was fantastic, the terrain of the island is amazing and the building layouts were crazy. Low-budget shacks next to million dollar mansions, strewn across the mountains and valleys with the sense of an exploded bag of packing peanuts. The beach itself wasn't that great. The water wasn't clear, and people on the beach kept trying to sell us things. We didn't really feel safe enough leaving our belongings on the beach so we had to watch them constantly and didn't really get a chance to relax.
Later we returned to the dock area, finished collecting our loot and returned to the ship. We relaxed in the pool for the rest of the afternoon. I can't remember what we had for dinner.
Antigua on Monday
This island sucked so badly that we can't remember anything about it aside from the fact that we got off the boat, collected our free item and got back on the boat in less than 30 minutes because it sucked so bad. We spent much of the day in the pool to make up for it.
