Summary: Delilah's getting into the spirit of Christmas.
She had seen the changes the gold dust had made and rather liked them. Children were innocent--which wasn't to say they couldn't be cruel, Mother had told her, the spawn of snakes could never be anything else--but they did not carefully calculate the hurts and vulnerabilities as adults did. Their games were simpler with their age.
This holiday seemed to be about bringing the children smiles. She'd been skeptical about the whole thing at first, but then thought why not? She had no better use for the gil. A few for sugar cookies, red and white candy canes like the one Zax had given her, some gingerbread men (she'd frowned at the lack of frosting dresses)--it was hardly any trouble to give some treats out for the day.
She crossed the town in a warm brown coat, boots tromping through the snow as she kept an eye out.
