But in a dietary way.
My Paleo diet has been working pretty well. I've lost some weight, and I've been religiously good eating only meat, nuts, veggies and fruit. I feel fabulous and while I do crave cheese, it's not horrible and I don't have to count or weigh anything. Awesome. Easiest diet I've ever done. Also, no carbs means I don't need butter, so while I could have butter (it's allowed on the regular Paleo diet, I'm just doing a more strict version without dairy for these 2 months), I don't actually need it. Bonus.
I was doing fabulously well. Until last night. Apple had a crab feed and we went to that. The plate had:
1 dungeness crab
1 bulb of roasted garlic
1 pile of 3-cheese ravioli (about 7 pieces)
caesar salad
2 french bread garlic toast pieces
a tub of melted butter
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream with ghirardelli hot fudge.
And I ate it ALL (ok, except salad croutons and french bread garlic toast).
On top of that, there were extra scoops of ice cream at the end, so I went and got another and the guy said, "hey, take 2". So I did! Hah!
We ate til about 7p and then sat around talking til 8p when the cafe closed, and at that point I was fairly vibrating. Literally. So I went shopping at one place til they closed at 9, then shopping at another place til they closed at 10, then went home, did a bunch of little things I'd been putting off, laundry, and other little things. Finally went to bed by 1:30, and read til 2:00a. I wasn't sleepy then either, but I managed to fall asleep pretty quickly.
There was no vegging out in front of the TV. There was no sluggishness. I was totally wired!
The major downside: I could feel my heartburn trying to come back, and even at 2am it was a little uncomfortable to lay down. Nothing like how it was in November, but still, yuck. It appears that large amount of carbs (7 ravioli and 3 hot fudge sundaes) makes my innards unhappy with me. So even after the 2 months is up, I think I'll try to stay on the Paleo diet (though I'll add in dairy) simply because I don't hurt as much in the end. Also, if I do eat some carbs, I'll try to keep it to before 3pm so maybe that will help too.
Anyway. Very interesting. At least to me.
