(Great movie)

Now just see where I am coming from. I cannot call myself religious because I have watched car bombs explode in the name of God, because I have seen a cross chain choke a homosexual to death, because I have seen money floundered and people manipulated from the power of a symbol. I can call myself spiritual because I have a heart that beats, because I cry for the pain of strangers, because I understand the outcasts and I question royalty, because there are things that I don't know, but accept. The great beauty and flaw of the Bible is the same dissonant that can be found lurking within the pages of any book. It is in the individual power to take from it what you can. Whether you swallow the blood of the book or spit it out, you are in control of the ideas you bring from it. Good and Evil are there waiting for your eyes to blink the image into reality. Metaphors are lost and snakes are wrapped around your ankles. It does not matter whether Jesus was the Messiah. What should matter are his teachings, and nothing else-- yet millions have ignored the spine of the Bible and killed for irrelevant points. Under the guise of some kind of supreme good and benevolence religion has slain the innocent, has stolen from the poor, has fed the greed gluttons of the planet. Facts of Faith- who gives a fuck? I don't believe a word from Tom Cruise or Joseph Smith or the Pope. I believe in eternal goodness. Ideals from within. I march with the crooked, with your Emerson, Your Twain, your kool-aid drenched buses, and your Mary Magdalene, and your Peter Pan. I take from it what I believe is true and I accept that people cannot, that people need statistics or angels, or fortune cookies. Politics are not going to save us. You have to save yourself and your neighbor, and the bum on the street and the fly in your house and the preacher above your pew and the teachers in your school and the dealers on your streets, and the boy flipping burgers and the girl spreading her legs, and the coins on the floor, and the blessing in your food, and the music deafening your ear, and the gum on your shoe, and the tears of your father, and the shattered womb of your sister, and the curving corruption of every alley in your city, and the blinding teeth of your boss; all of it needs to be saved. Horus Vs Set.
Be born from a virgin. Look for your star in the East. Find adoration in three kings. Become a teacher at a young age. Die for the sins of your fellow man. Stay buried for three days and when the time is right may your soul be released. Imagine a world where everyone is their own savior. Be your own fucking Jesus. You don't need a Bible or a cross or a tattoo to be a great person. You need to understand the metaphors and decide if they mean anything to you.
Find your Krishna.
Or your Jesus.
Or your Muhammad.
Or your Mithra.
Or your Buddha.
Or your Kurt Cobain.
Or your _______.
Go with it.
Find your own way,
give it a chance.
