I got a job!

0.0

I filled out a pretty standard application, you know, education history, extracurriculars, previous employment, military experience, volunteer work, civic offices held, languages known, etc. The funny part about getting this job is that its the stuff that I thought would be of little or no interest was the stuff that got me the job - the volunteer work I did over the summer last year at a public riding stable, and the fact that I study karate. It makes sense, now that I think about it. The job I applied for was as a banquet server, and they need people with upper body strength and endurance, 'cuz they work pretty long shifts, hauling around heavy trays and setting up tables and stuff.

I got the call around one to come in for an interview at 3:30, the interview was less than half an hour. My first day is Thursday, I have to buy the clothes for it (black pants, a tuxedo shirt, and the most important part - comfortable black shoes. It is going to be a bitch to break those in, I'm sure). I'm actually more nervous now than I was during the interview. The interview was so fast, I didn't really have time to work myself up emotionally. I'd already picked out clothes for interviewing in (this is not the first application I've handed in), so I just had time to shower, get dressed and eat (dad had to wake me up for the phone call, I'd stayed up till about four a.m.), discuss with my parents what times I'd have available, and then head over there. Now that its over, I'm really nervous. What if I'm really bad at it? It's a huge hotel, I'm never going to remember where anything is. I'm also a little concerned about the physical requirements. Sure, I go to karate class, but I'm no weightlifter, and the classes aren't anywhere near as aerobically challenging as my old tae kwon do classes were. I'm going to be really embarrassed if I just can't take it physically.
