A long time in the update, but I've finally cleared all the decks from stuff.....so

Flew out Thursday late afternoon with Ryanair which was reasonable. Although the landing from hell. Deffinatly the bumpiest and fastest approach I've seen. Still we walked away and i think everyone applauded captain kangaroo for the entertainment, or just the relief that the plan had stopped. I know it was winding, but...

Grabbed tickets from near the station. The big queue was for wristbands, so we left people there, paid for tickets in a non existent queue and rejoined the wristband bit. German efficiency meant although it was long it shifted at a fair old rate and we were soon able to decamp to the hotel. The Westin was lovely. Nice large room and the best breakfast spread I've seen anywhere so far. Dumped the bags and headed to the Sixteena for a steakinabun and a beer. Later dropped motodraconis back at the hotel and wandered to the Moritzbastei and met up with a load of the usual suspects. morbidfrog, simonsatori & ade50021 amongst the fray.

Got woken with breakfast cake as we were unsure of the breakfast situation. Win for picking a top roomie. Friday was the Victorian picnic and the weather was good so i dressed motodraconis in her Dress of Awesome and headed out. Lots of pictures happened which was fun. We then decamped back to the hotel and dressed more practically and went for food at the bayerischer bahnhof which was lovely. Onto the Agra and the big bands. LÀME IMMORTELLE, Combichrist, Eden House and the suprise of Project Pitchfork. All were pretty good though the Agra is very unforgiving meaning i tended to get bored of standing and often heard the middle of the set from outside. Got back to the Hotel and went to the Moritzbastei.

Saturday started with more breakfast cake before having a look at the Viking market on top of the Moritzbastei. A wander through town before heading out for some bands at the Volkzplast. A very pretty single domed venue where we managed to get tall bar stools near the bar but rather close to the stage and bands, meaning sipping nice beer in a decadent fashion only 15' from the lead singer. Definite win. Adoration were good, but Vic Anselmo stole it somewhat when the lead singer came on stage for a acapella sound check and got applause. They were very good and i'd guess one to watch. We ended up back at the Agra later on. VNV Nation i seem to recall. Though due to it being very busy i spent most of it outside chatting and drinking. The Moritzbastei featured again with friends as much as though i'd have liked to see Current 93 i wasn't waiting two hours.

Sunday i wandered to Werk II and saw USK and SAM which were not really my thing, but interesting and nice chatting to a few friends. I aimed for the Agra, but due to Alan missed and ended up at the Medieval market nearby. Much mead was drunk and i swiped some rhubarb wine from Kate and saw a couple of bands out in the open, including Qntal. Both were very good and much fun. I did stagger through the camp-site and caught the last of ASP for the pyrotechnics and then Peter Murphy who was fantastic as expected. The end of the night was a bit of a blurr, but probably involved the Moritzbastei !

Monday was a day at the Parkbhuna with the Inkies and die so fluid. I'd have liked to have seen more of lhanya, but we came in on the last track. Later i wandered with Alan back to the market and met a few friends before more fun at the Agra with Shelmish who were bagpipe folk/metal a rather nifty fire routine called Sualesh and then Letzte Instanz who were predictably awesome. I then headed back to the Moritzbastei for drinks and a run down. I left at a respectable 2am with an aim of an earlyish night. I walked past the Novatel and saw a couple of friends in the bar, so nipped in to check about taxi's. They complained that the bar had shut and asked where would be open. I mentioned the Sixtina should be and they said whats that. Thus the night and early morning saw absinthe action until they kicked us out at 6am. They had closed at 5am, but we'd talked them into another round and i believe it was a double and free as well ! Breakfast then bed happened.

The next day was fairly uneventful apart from rip off taxis (make sure if there are two airports they know specifically which you are going to, i think this was a scam). It was a quieter plane going, but a happy one.
