It is very interesting to go on the assumption that thoughts are not generated "locally," but are a sort of radio station I have chosen to listen to and partially programmed by my previous choices. I can be intently focused on something besides "Interior Radio," and what thoughts I do hear sound like some kind of distant mumbo-jumbo. Or, more interestingly, I can change the station, or do other wild-ass things with the tuner. Let's say I convince myself that doing telekinesis, say, is just a matter of tuning in to a source of that ability.
I know there are other ways to do "programming and meta-programming," and for some of this stuff, "commonsense" says that finding the attunement is "the hard part"; but, hell, what if it's not?
