Peppermint:

No, she said to herself, I can’t do this.

Dear Brent,

I hope your holidays are going well. Remember the time we went ice skating? I fell over so many times, and you always helped me up.

Maylene gave up on writing Christmas cards early.

Brent went to Java Cup for a cup of peppermint white mocha. He found himself buying a 20 dollar gift card being held by a white sparkly teddy bear. He sat down and began to write on the card’s envelope.

Maylene,

I hope your holidays are going well. I’ve been reading your articles; they always bring a smile to my face. Anyway, I figured you probably still like the peppermint hot chocolate here,

No, he thought to himself, I can’t go through with this.

Maylene,

I hope your holidays are going well. I’ve been reading your articles; they always bring a smile to my face. Anyways, I figured you probably still like the peppermint hot chocolate here,

He walked out of Java Cup, slightly embarrassed by his previous notions, he handed the bear to a woman as he stumbled out of the door, barely glancing at her.

As he went down the steps, he heard a faint “Brent?”

When he turned around, he saw her. Glowing brown hair, warm face, perfect figure all wrapped up in a red pea coat.

“Maylene?”

“Brent! Good to see you, are your holidays going well?” She hesitated as she walked back down the steps towards him, “This is so weird, but, I was just thinking about you.”
