i'm soooooo damn lucky
As most of you have heard, on Tuesday I was in a very very bad accident on highway 316. I was in my companys work van with my foreman on our way back to the shop so we could get our cars and go home, we never made it there b/c of the crash.
we were traveling eastbound (towards athens) on 316 when a black GMC Envoy traveling westbound (towards atl)when from what i have heard was cut off forceing her to go into the median where she lost controll of her car and came into our lanes of traffic. she finally got control of her car and steered it into our path and there was nothing we couold do to avoid her. we were going at about 65 mph when we hit her while she was going about 30 mph or so. we hit her head on soooooooooo freakin hard that i can't even begin to explain how hard it was. i don't remember clearly what all happend right before or right after b/c i was knocked out for a few seconds. i do remember the moment of impact and how hard we hit, but after that i was in a daze.
i remember being trapped inside for afew seconds after we hit b/c the force of the impact made the doors fold up and trap us inside. we then rolled down the windows and ha to jump out of the van to get out. at this point i feel no pain and realize that my cell phone wasn't in my pocket. so i go and look for it on my side of the van, but i can't find it, i eventually found it under the dash board on the drivers side with the battery and battery cover knocked off while my phone was flipped open. i proceed to call my mom, dad, and my boss letting them know we had been in a head-on collision. at this point there are 4 or 5 women telling me to sit down b/c i was bleeding from my chin and from nose. after telling them i was "okay"i finally sat down to gt them to shut up. then the paramedics got there, looked me over and put a c-collar on my kneck, wrapped my knee up (from where the dash board had been moved back a foot from when the engine was knocked into the drivers compartment pushing the dashboard into my knee) and strapped me to the backbord
and put me on the stretcher for a ride to the hospital. so all in all i only had a bummed knee, bloody nose, chin cut open, major headache and a jaw that hurt like hell.
before all of this happnend i had my foot on the dash board for a while until a voice popped into my head asking me "what would happen if we had a bad accident and it caused my airbag to deploy forcing my leg and knee up into my face?") and not 3 min after that, BAM, we hit, AND HIT HARD AS HELL! who knows what would have happend if i hadn't takin my knee down?
i'm just thanking the lord and counting all of my blessings today b/c of how serious this accident was, and for me to be able to walk away from it w/ a broken nose (from me somehow punching my self) a busted chin, dislocated jaw, and a bummed knee.boy am i lucky!
