Can’t Stop
Kevin can’t stop, he tries hard, but he just can’t anymore.

anapp ! because she’s as epic as AlVin.
Kevin is running from his apartment -with nowhere as a destination. He just wants to get a little lost in the streets, with hopes to find an escape route from his complicated life. He wants to rest from the spotlight, he wants to feel like he’s a ‘normal’ person. But what is normal? A teacher of his from high school told him to come back to him after 30 years, maybe then the old man will know the answer. Memories, Kevin think they’re as fragile as a glass. One should never forget to take care of them well and to keep them somewhere nice and safe.
Kevin then, really gets lost and he doesn’t mind. He feels happy, because if he’s lost, that means he can do mostly anything now -at least for awhile.
Being a solo artist, life was never easy for Kevin. He had expectations to live up to, people to make proud, lies to tell and many more. And Kevin is tired, because he hasn’t slept for at least 5 hours. And he needs at least 6 to think straight and make his heart beat normally. Not like this, which felt like his heart kept on skipping 2 beats every once in a while.
Suddenly, when he walks a little bit more, in a small, quiet neighborhood, he sees a tall apartment. It was white, and looked new -but old too, because of the amount of moss, hiding on its corners. Kevin takes a step closer to the gate, which was guarded by two guards (obviously). When he takes another step, he feels weird. Like something hit him hard -like a big pail of cold water splashed right on his face as a wake up call.
It’s weird and Kevin feels a little daring today.
He talks to one of the guards and tells his identity -the famous Woo Kevin, a name that is known all over
Korea, and maybe some neighboring countries. The guard’s eyes go as wide as saucers and he lets the star in. But Kevin warns him not to tell this to anyone, or he’ll have him get assassinated (or something like that). He enters the apartment, and just like in his head, it was one of those out-of-place fancy apartments in a simple, little neighborhood. He chuckles at how right he was.
And then he stopped, because his heart now stopped beating for at least 5 seconds.
A male with a tender age of 23 is sitting, crossed legged in the lobby with a magazine in front of his face. Kevin doesn’t know why, but it feels a little bit like déjà vu when he saw the male.
“Wait a minute.”
The skin, the way he sits, the way he turns every page- Kevin finally gets it. He knows that person. It was his old band-mate, Alxender. And… his best friend that he lost contact with. It was all too complicated to be compressed in a short story. The keywords would be ‘tired’, ‘different’ and ‘change’ though. It’s a little hard to comprehend at first, Kevin thinks, but to him, it makes sense.
Because, it was something he can never forget and had always… a little bit regretted.
“Xander-hyung.”
He calls out, with a shaky voice. The male flinches and he slowly turns his head. His eyes went wide for a split-second. The brunette dropped his magazine on the table and stood up. Alexander was about a meter away from Kevin. The atmosphere was awkward, too awkward.
Because Kevin confessed on the day he left -he was a coward. So was Alexander.
The two look down at the floor, then to each other again. “It’s been awhile.” Alexander muttered. The blonde nodded. Exactly a year, 3 months, and 5 days awhile. Kevin didn’t count the days, he counted the days he missed them -he missed Alexander. The blonde takes a bold step forward, and flashes a smile. “What’ve you been up to these days?” Alexander gulps. “I own this place.” Kevin nods, and sighs. “Oh.”
Silence hugs them both, to a bittersweet embrace. Something they haven’t done for exactly a year, 3 months and 6 days. (Because Kevin hugged Alexander tight before saying ‘See you again’)
“Hyung.” Alexander hasn’t heard that kind of ‘hyung’ for exactly a year, 3 months and 4 days (because Kevin called Alexander when he was scared, alone in his new apartment). The silence became unnerving and annoying, The blonde spoke up again.
“I can’t stop.”
He says, and Alexander doesn’t get it. He doesn’t want to -his head hurts a little too much to think properly.
“I can’t stop… this. But I know I can stop… running. Even just for a bit.”
Kevin continues and his eyes don’t wander off. They’re completely glued on Alexander’s.
“Hyung, until now, I still-“ He gets cut off by a hug. It wasn’t bittersweet though. Kevin actually can’t describe it. It’s like he’s heartbroken, but he isn’t. Another adjective-less feeling -Kevin’s tired of guessing games though.
“I missed you.” A tear slides down Kevin’s eyes, and he clutches Alexander’s shirt tightly. “Me too.”
That day, Kevin’s manager allowed Kevin to sleep over with his ‘old best friend’ for old time’s sake. His manager knew he met Alexander, because Kevin is not going to call Kibum ‘old best friend’ (he’ll call him his old brother), or Eli (he’ll call him his old culinary-buddy), or Soohyun (he’ll call him his old musical friend), or Kiseop (he’ll call him his old pretty friend) or Dongho (he’ll call him his old baby brother). Because to be honest, his manager missed his boys too, so he lets Kevin be. Because, he also knows that Kevin is hurting a lot more than him.
So, that day and that starry night, Kevin and Alexander make up for that year, 3 months and 6 days.
