The flight over

May 15, 2008 08:52

Well I have been a little tardy in posting since i got here...

The flight from Sydney to LA was 13 hours. I had a spare seat next to me which alleviated some of the discomfort but its still a 13 hour flight. About as good as you can hope for really.

The queue’s at LA were HUGE. The security checkpoint queue went for about 150m along a balcony then went down a set of stairs and outside for a few hundred metres. The flight from LA was delayed by about 3 hours because there was a storm in Chicago, so I lay in various uncomfortable positions on the floor trying to have a nap. By the time we got to Chicago, the flight to Ottawa was about to go and by the time I got to gate g20 from k11 (no idea how far 1 Km maybe), they had already taken off.

So then they sent me to united airlines to try and get in as a stand by. This involved even more walking only to find out that my ticket needed to say American airlines and not Qantas. So it was back to the original terminal and by the time I had walked there and explained everything I couldn’t catch the united flight anyway because it had been filled. They put me up in a hotel (getting to the shuttle depot required more walking) and I got a flight to Ottawa on the Saturday.

No troubles with the Ottawa flight or with Ottawa customs. So uh that was back on the 3rd of March and now its the 15th. Where does the time go
