Another year on earth

Feb 09, 2009 16:46

I've crossed into a new age bracket. Now I'm lumped in with people ages 26-35. Older, check. Wiser? I think so.

I wasn't really expecting the outpouring of birthday wishes, nor did I see the personalized engraved cake pan coming. My mother-in-law finds the strangest things. I won't be losing this baking accessory to inconsiderate and dramatic friends, that's for sure. And, if I do, it's got my name on it, lid AND pan, indelibly.

Tina sent me the most gorgeous framed 1880s fashion plates (from Peterson's Magazine), with an apology of sorts for contributing to the destruction of rare books and ephemera, "I figure it's like vintage fur--someone else already killed it."

Tonight, there will be birthday ice cream, and perhaps a combined V-Day/B-Day dinner with my DH. All in all, this is shaping up to be not the WORSTBIRTHDAYEVAR! {though, arguably, little tops an Alan-themed party or a tea), and I have my lovely friends and family and all the kind phone calls, emails, cards, and social networking site posts to thank for it.
