This time I got to the newt migration site at about the right time; so the result was closer to quits - ie about as many saved (eg by cupping my hand over them as a cyclist approached) as were lost to traffic.
I also air-lifted a millipede over the path. UK millipedes are very small (but beautiful) and it was going to take it a long time to shift all those little legs across the path on its own - with consequent high risk of squashage along the way.
