THIS WEEK :

The House of Lords voted to delay the cuts to child tax credit by voting in favour of the motion put forward by Baroness Hollins, to delay the cuts for three years, 289 to 272. This was after they also backed Baroness Meacher's motion that the tax cuts be delayed until there's an independent review/ analysis of what effect it will on people:

(OT for some reason I can't find which motion/amendment was from whom, so if I got this wrong let me know and I'll change it)

This has of course resulted in a lot of whining from the Tory benches screaming about how "unconstitutional" this is from the Lords and how this has resulted in a "crisis". Bercow was very firm today when we told the House of Commons that nothing the Lord has done was "unconstitutional"

But George has apparently been going around telling MP's that we need an elected Upper Chamber:

George Osborne tells MPs: 'We should have an elected House of Lords.'

1. Given that the Government is likely to lose the debate on whether 16-17 year old to get the as the House of Lord will also pass that motion, and it'd be the third successive defeat for the Government, within 6 months, will this change backbencher's minds on whether or not they want a fully elected Upper Chamber?

2. Are David and George feeling the heat, or can they still pull off a) David staying on till the end of his term and b) George becoming Prime Minister.

3. Have these been some of the happiest 6 months of Gordon Brown's life? (barring of course his wedding and the day his two boys were born)

4. If the Lords push back the deadline for IVR (Individual Voter Registration) how will that effect the mayoral contest and future elections not to mention the boundary review.

5. Is this not a welcome respite for Labour, and do you think Jeremy Corbyn is glad to finally out of the spotlight for a little while?

well this is worrying, dcam takes names and breaks hearts, uk_lolitics can educate you forrealsies, weekly round up, debates, weekly discussion post, george 'gideon' osborne
