Hello! New here! And, uh, new to the concept of fannishness re: politics in countries I don't live in. BUT WILLING TO LEARN.
Now, it's fairly clear even to me as a lowly American that the Cameron Ministry is the slashiest thing to ever slash its way over from the Home Counties. But one drawback--at least to me--is the relative lack of women, and by extension femslash. There are four female cabinet ministers at present (as compared to seven in the United States, counting Cabinet-equivalent posts like EPA Administrator and UN Ambassador), and none of them seem particularly close, even though Theresa May and Caroline Spelman seemed to work together a lot in opposition.
For me the really fascinating relationship is the one between Lady Warsi and...well, between Lady Warsi and the Tory backbenchers and Peers in general, really. It's her job to keep them happy, which was an interesting choice because reading up on her it doesn't seem like Lady Warsi really has the capacity to keep anybody happy. Sometimes including Lady Warsi.
In general I guess what I'm saying is that while British politics has become my main slash fandom (something that I never thought I'd have at all, much less have it be British politics), I'd like to see if any discussion/fannishness/whatever can be drummed up about the women.
tl;dr in this post let's let the ladies have some love.
Also, please go easy on someone who is extremely new.
