It appears that outgoing Treasury Secretary Liam Byrne left a note to his successor reading:

'I'm afraid there is no money. Kind regards - and good luck!'

The Guardian has a poll asking if this is funny. Duh. Next they'll be asking if penguins are cute or bears defecate in wooded areas.

MORE IMPORTANTLY! What other notes, surprises, and little titbits did Labour ministers and officials leave before they vacated the corridors of power? I like to think Gordon left the No.10 bathroom supplied with an extra-large bottle of lube...

... with just a dash of hot sauce added.
