Sounds like you are having an adventure xD I never traveled alone. It seems a bit scary, but also liberating I suppose. About the staring, I thought Taipei was more or less international? It's not like the rural parts of China or something right?
How about Hong Kong? I'm thinking def less staring there. Get better soon! ^^
This is my fourth solo international trip! Traveling alone is okay. I mean, it's less fun because there is no one there to laugh about stupid stuff with, but it is nice not having to worry about what other people want to do. I can do exactly and ONLY what I want.
Well, Taipei is weird. You't think it'd be internationally minded, and to some extent it is. But at the same time, Taiwan is VERY homogeneous. More so than either Japan or Korea. It's a very small island that most people don't ever really think about. They're not really recognized internationally, and very few westerners go there. I can't really compare to China, as I've never been there. But I mean, yes, they're more international than rural parts of China. But at the same time, I think they're a lot less international than cities in China.
As for Hong Kong, I also don't know. Never been there either. But I agree, there would probably be less staring in Hong Kong, since so many foreigners go there.
