One more 2NE1 "Try to Copy Me" eyeshadow look, and one freestyle!
This one is for Dara's really pretty multi-colored eyeshadow look she has here:
(Sorry in advance for the shitty pictures. It's night here, and I don't have the best lighting in my bedroom)
This look is gorgeous, but not for everyday. I didn't do false eyelashes this time, mostly because I'm lazy, but also because I didn't have any lashes that were even close to the ones Dara wore in the video. I can''t find the exact ones she's wearing, but you can get a similar look with
Illamasqua No. 17 Lashes.
Okay, this one was kinda hard. I also forgot one step (Dara's look has some blue eyeshadow on the lower lash line), but oh well. Again, since my eyes are completely differently shaped, I had to interpret it. To alter this look for daytime, don't line the eyes with black liner, and use pastel eyeshadows instead of saturated color eyeshadows. Anyway, step by step:
1. Line the top and bottom INNER lashline with black eyeliner. Yes, the area of skin closest to your eye, in front of your lashes. (I used
Stila Convertible Eyecolor in "Onyx")
2. Line the top and bottom OUTER lashline with black eyeliner. The outer lashline is where you'd normally line your eyes, behind the lashes. (I used
Stila Kajal Eyeliner in "Onyx", and
Stila Convertible Eyecolor in Onyx)
3. Extend the line of the eyeliner past the eye, towards the eyebrow.
4. Using a bright blue eyeshadow, add eyeshadow to the very edge of your eye, extending about a third of the way towards the corner of your eye. Make the strip angled, as seen in the picture. Make sure you can see some of the blue on your browbone when you open your eyes. (I used
Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in "Peace"5. Using a lilac shadow, add eyeshadow to the middle of your eye, from the edge of the blue, to about two thirds of the way towards the corner of your eye. Make this strip angled as well. You want to make sure you can see a bit of the purple on your browbone when you open your eyes, but not nearly as much as the blue. (I used
Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in "Fishnet" and "Ransom". I used a layer of each color)
6. Using a bright kelly green eyeshadow, add shadow from the edge of the purple to the very corner of your eye. Angle this as well. For the green, you don't want to see any of it on the browbone when you open your eye. You should only be able to see it on the lashline. (I used
Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in "Graffiti")
7. (THIS IS THE STEP I SKIPPED) Line the outer edge of your lower OUTER lash line with blue eyeshadow (line to about the middle of the eye).
8. Curl lashes, and apply black mascara to the top and bottom lashes (I used
Stila Black Diamond Mascara in "Black Shimmer")
(Note: all of the eyeshadows I used can be found in the
Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box)
This is the look I usually wear. If I'm wearing eyeshadow, I almost always wear it like this. It's simple, never looks overdone, and really compliments my eyes. NOTE: This eyeshadow look will not work for everyone. Everyone has different eye shapes, etc. Regardless, this works for me.
This look makes your eyes look larger because you're using darker eyeshadow on the edges, and a lighter shadow in the corners. HOWEVER, lining your lower lashline can make your eyes seem smaller, so if you have small eyes, don't line as far in towards the corner, or skip it altogether.
I use brown based eyeshadows for this, because brown looks the best on my skintone. I have yellow toned skin, which means warmer colors looks better on me. If you have pink-toned skin, use cooler colors. (An easy way to tell if you have yellow or pink toned skin is to look at the veins in your wrist. If they appear blue, you have red-toned skin. If they appear greenish, you have yellow-toned skin)
STEP 1: Line the top and bottom INNER lashline with black eyeliner (you can use any color you want, black is more formal and matches everything well). Yes, the area of skin closest to your eye, in front of your lashes. (I used
Stila Convertible Eyecolor in "Onyx")
STEP 2: This is kinda complicated... Take a dark brown eyeshadow (I used
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in "Twice Baked"), and place color on the outside of your eyes. Take the color further in on your lashline, so that it extends about two thirds of the way towards the corner of your eye. In the crease, bring the color so that it extends to roughly the same length as the color on your lashline. As for the middle, bring the color about a third of the way in. You will have an area in the middle of your eye that does not have color on it. THIS IS KEY.
STEP 3: Line your lower lashline (under the lashes) with the dark brown eyeshadow from the outer edge of your eye, to about two thirds of the way towards the corner. Do not go all the way to the corner of your eye.
STEP 3: To the inner corner of your eye, add a light beige eyeshadow (I used
Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow in "Beige Rose". Extend the pale shadow from the inner corner of your lid, towards the center of your eyes. You want to put the shadow in the area that you didn't apply the dark brown color. On the bottom lash line, add the pale shadow to the corner, basically where you didn't put the dark brown shadow. Where the light and dark shadows meet on the top and the bottom lids, you'll want to blend the colors a little (not too much).
STEP 4: Apply mascara in any color you want to the top and bottom lashes (I used
Bourjois Mini Volume Glamour Ultra Mascara in "Grey").
NOTE: For everyday looks, I generally don't wear mascara (my lashes are black, and full enough for me not to care). BUT if I do, I wear grey mascara. It's soft enough to not be crazy, but enough to highlight the eyes. You can also use brown mascara, but I don't actually own brown mascara.
In other news, I'm trying to teach myself to dance via youtube videos. It's not going well. I'm not coordinated. Seriously, they tell me to go one way, I go the other way. And my reflexes are so bad it hurts. And I'm all stiff. It's unpleasant.
Oddly enough I CAN ballroom dance, and I'm pretty okay at it too. And I used to be able to swing dance (I've forgotten over the years). So why in the hell am I having such a hard time with this?! *cries* I feel like Baby in the beginning of Dirty Dancing. Except without Patrick Swayze.
