Korea's really getting into the FIFA spirit. Really early. (And yes, I know this is wicked old, but I forgot about it until now)
Sorry guys. I'm rooting for the USA and Germany in the world cup (maybe Italy too).
Did I ever tell the story about how I was in Germany during the 2006 FIFA world cup? Because that was an interesting time. Through some crazy coincidence,
sn0tcat and I ended up in Berlin on the day that the Germany/Argentina game was set to be played (and the game was actually IN BERLIN). We were out sightseeing when Germany won the game, and ended up on a bus, surrounded by rabid fans. Then for some reason I thought it would be a great idea to get off the bus and join the mob (I blame that on the fact that I never got to participate in a sports mob in Boston. I was always out of state when we won things). It started out fut, but then a really drunk guy started following us (all the while talking to us in slurred German... I know German, but not well enough to be able to figure out what the hell he was saying at that time), and then proceeded to hit me on the head with a giant blow up hand. After that we left pretty fast. There's some other not-so-fun stories from our time in Berlin (think drunk British assholes who I wanted to beat the shit out of), but that's a story for another time.
(I love Germany very very much, but I have some odd experiences there, including being followed by a creepy old guy (thankfully in broad daylight in a densely populated area), being yelled at by a random lady in an U-bahn station (I still have no idea what that was about), getting accosted by a large man while waiting for the tram (it happens to me more than I'd like), and kinda getting thrown out of my pension by the landlady who I was certain did not like me...)
