I'm on a weird fitness kick. Gym, exercise videos, diet stuff, all that.
The thing is, when I was in Taiwan, I walked everywhere, and got quite a workout everyday. At home I have a car. And it's cold as hell. Sooooo not much walking. Which means I get lazy, and lose my great workout.
I'm trying the
Fat Burning Furnace plan (which focuses on high intensity weight training),
Jillian Michaels exercise videos,
drinking water to promote weight loss, and regular old cardio (elliptical machines, and hill-walking on a treadmill).
So far so good. I'd have to say I like the "Fat Burning Furnace" plan the most. I like high intensity training a lot. I weirdly used to be in the weight lifting club in high school (to this day I don't know why). It hurts like a bitch, but hopefully it works. I hate the water thing though. I don't drink much generally, so getting in 2L a day is HARD. The Jillian Michaels workouts are intense. I just finished one, and MAN, not fun. I hate the elliptical and hill-climbing (I don't run on treadmills because of my poor bum knee - I broke it almost 8 years ago, and it's never been the same), but I'm used to it.
So the big question: Are any of these working. Well, I do believe the water drinking is working. Even if it isn't, keeping hydrated is important anyway. But I think my water retention is down, so that's good. I know the Jillian Michaels videos are working to, because the point of them is to raise your heartbeat while working all different muscles. When I do the videos, my heartbeat is constantly high, and I'm ALWAYS sore (which indicates to me I'm working muscles that obviously need to be worked more often). The Fat Burning Furnace, well, I just started that, but the science behind it is strong, so we'll see how it goes. As for cardio, well, that's ALWAYS good. Cardio works consistently for me. It keeps me in shape, and helps keep my resting heart rate good and low.
Anyway, random meme I gacked from
frostedpopcorn A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."
一 : I normally cannot sleep on sheets less than 320 thread count. I used to be fine with anything, and then one day I decided to splurge on nice sheets. And now I can't go back.
二 : I technically spent 6 years in undergrad. I dual enrolled in high school and college my senior year of high school, and then I transferred schools after my sophomore year in college, so I lost credits.
三 : I don't have a good sense of smell, so I like scents that are very strong. I have a strong sense of taste, as as such don't like strongly flavored food.
四 : I've been a vegetarian for around 15 years (over half my life). Yet, to this day, my mother forgets I don't eat meat.
五 : I tend to be weirdly obsessed with kitchenware and dishes. I have so many dishes it's not even funny. Right now I have a random wok in my closet. A lot of my kitchenware is whimsical (and from anthropologie). I have a sugar bowl shaped like a grapefruit. I have measuring spoons shaped like giraffes. I have measuring cups shaped like geese. I have a teaset shaped like owls. I have a creamer shaped like a lemon. You get the point.
六 : I have a favorite of everything. Seriously, pick something, I can name a favorite. Favorite ornamental tree? Teacup Magnolia. Favorite periodic element? Plutonium. Favorite cat breed? Sphynx. Favorite type of rock? Sedimentary. Favorite protozoan? Plasmodium falciparum. The list goes on...
七 : I have deep-seated hatred for coffee and opiate painkillers. I consider both widely overused, and over-enthused.
In other news, I'm on season 3 of Inuyasha. It's been slow going as of late (I've been distracted by fanfic). But hey, the fact that I AM still watching it, over 60 episodes in, well, that's an accomplishment for me! There's still a bit to go before it breaks my "Longest Anime" record (which is TECHNICALLY Marmalade Boy, not counting Sailor Moon, since it was broken up).
