I'm almost done with Byakuyako. Only three episodes left.
So, the thing about this drama; I love it so very very much. But even I don't know what to do with all the utter fucked up-ness of it (and honestly, I have an EXTREMELY high tolerance for messed up stuff in dramas). Seriously. This has to be the most batshit crazy drama I've ever seen.
The main characters are horrible people, they do horrible things. And when I say horrible, I mean HORRIBLE. There's murders, attempted rapes, blackmail, theft, fraud, embezzlement, ANYTHING YOU CAN POSSIBLY THINK OF. I'm telling you, these are not nice people. If someone wrongs them, their first thoughts are "well, I guess I have to kill them (or frame them for a crime) now"...
And yet, I love them, and root for them. It's because they're so tragic, and in love, and keep digging themselves in deeper and deeper. They're totally and completely dependant on each other, and it's both terrifying and beautiful to watch.
Like
sn0tcat said, it's like they made this drama to totally screw with fans of Sekachu. Seriously, it's a mind fuck. I mean, there's Ayase Haruka, with her same sweet voice, telling Ryou to perform necrophilia. And Yamada Takayuki, with the same hurt expression, looking at a person he just stabbed to death. I think it's even more pronounced for me, since I JUST finished Sekachu. But otherwise it's easy to distinguish. Yuki and Ryou are DEFINITELY not Aki and Saku.
Anyway, I have some caps. Most are of Taki looking amazingly hot while being angsty. But there are a few other caps thrown in too! Including an, um, interesting bathhouse scene with Taki and Keisuke (and when I say "interesting" I don't means slashy... well, not really)
First off, there is REAL KISSING in this. Like, with moving mouths. Not a lot of it, but even a little bit is better than nothing. And they totally have sex too (kinda... it's complicated). And not just a scene of them sitting in bed with sheets covering them. Noooooo... there's kissing and movement.
And Keisuke is there too! His character is great, a man-whore, but one with a heart of gold. Keisuke is on the second tier of my favorite jdrama actors, so I enjoy seeing him in things.
Mmmmm scruffy Taki. You probably can't see, but the glasses are "Rey Bans"... yay for counterfeiters.
In case you ever wanted to see Keisuke's naked ass, well, there you go!
I laughed quite a bit at this scene. Ryou turns around, and BAM. Hahahaha! The look on his face! And then, Tomo (Keisuke's character) dances around a bit, which is highly amusing... and then this happens;
Yup. Your eyes are not deceiving you. Ryou totally grabs Tomo's junk. TWICE.
This cap looks sweet doesn't it? Like they're hugging. Of course it's not sweet, because Ryou has just STABBED THE OTHER GUY TO DEATH. Yeah. See, This is the type of thing you can expect from this dramatic masterpiece.
Again, doesn't it look sweet? Well, see the object in Yuki's right hand? Pruning shears that she was going to use to kill the dude that Ryou just killed (see above). The best part about this scene is that it actually IS a pretty damn sweet scene between Ryou and Yuki.
And so we start with the random pretty Taki pics. I like how initially I try to take ones relating to plot, but then they slowly degenerate into me taking caps of hot guys looking pretty.
But oh, how pretty he is.
So...
Very...
Pretty.
This scene broke my heart. I do believe it's the only time he's smiled in this show.
Seriously. This scene = awesome. It wholly redeemed Yuki to me, as it was here that she explicitly stated that everything she does is for Ryou.
PREEEEEETY. He's all hot when he's grungy and lawless, but even more hot when he's clean shaven and wearing suits.... Mmmmmmmmm. Yes.
Though I must admit, I don't think I will ever get used to his eyebrows. They're pretty weird, in a good way. Kinda like MatsuJun's...
I really don't have anything to say about this one. Just, wow. I LOVE him.
This is a cap from earlier in the series, episode 2 if I'm not mistaken. School uniform ♥!!!
And finally one of Haruka, because girl is beautiful.
So yes... Byakuyako... To be honest, I cannot rec this drama to everyone. It's amazing and wonderful, but it's not the type of drama that everyone would like. It's not even the type of drama most people would like. The crimes they commit are horrible, and their relationship is messed up. It's not just a serious drama, it's one of those dramas that deals with moral ambiguity. Think Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003, except to a much greater degree. These characters have no redeeming qualities other than each other, and I don't think most people would be able to handle that. It's not even something like their love is so great and tragic that it overcomes problems. It's more like their love CAUSES the problems. Because they're pretty much sociopaths.
