Universes
Which Universe would you choose? Qualifying explanations encouraged. This list was complied indifferently and cannot be attributed to any one individual for purposes of retribution.
1. Star Wars or Star Trek? [Original vs. Original] As a loyal and true Trekker, I must state now and for the record*, that I choose Star Trek.
2. Harry Potter or Narnia? Not a Potter fan, but I am a C. S. Lewis fan, so Narnia for me.
3. Wizard of Oz or any 80s Video? Oz, thanks what a strange pair.
4. Gone with the Wind or Gettysburg? Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.
5. TRON or the Matrix? Excuse me? These are apples and rotten oranges. Matrix, of course. I did like the Simpson episode with the Tron theme.
6. Lord of the Rings or Kingdom of Heaven? Lord of the Rings(Megan’s got a hobbit hole, Megan’s got a hobbit hole.)
7. Rome or the Sopranos? Rome!!! Sopranos has no redeeming quality.
8. The Jetsons or The Flintstones? This is a tough one. I’d have to say both were great until they ‘jumped the shark’. IF I have to chose..I”ll go with Flintsones. But the Astro episodes and the ‘solar samba ramba’ were priceless. 9. Buffy or Charmed? Please refer to #4.
10. Gotham or Metropolis? Gotta go with TV Gotham. Commissioner Gordon CRACKED ME UP.
11. John Hughes or Kevin Smith? [Warning may date & show how much of geek you are if you get the reference.]I don’t get the reference, but I like KEVIN SMITH.
12. Fleming or Clancy? never read Clancy. gonna go with Fleming, just because who doesn't like Bond?
13. Snorks or Smurfs? Smurfs, Smurfette had her pick, didn’t she.
14. Elizabeth or Shakespeare in Love? I”ve seen too many movies about Liz, Shakespeare in Love was new and I liked how it looked like a play itself.
15. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or Young Guns? Not a fan of Westerns, but I’ll choose B.C and the S.K, just for the dialog.
16. Oceans 11 or Oceans 11? The choice here would be....? New one or old one? The new one almost makes me root for the bad guys. The original has loathsome characters.
17. Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween Series? You can keep them both.
18. Willy Wonka or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Both were creepy in their own way....Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka was creepier than Gene. But the Ooompa Loompa's in the Johnny Deep one weren't as scary...so...both. I agree with Megan. But Gene Wilders was a FAR BETTER MOVIE ALL AROUND.
I DELETED 19, oops.
20. Labyrinth or Dark Crystal? Labyrinth BY FAR. Dark Crystal was creepy.
21. Treasure Island or Pirates of the Caribbean? PIRATES, of course!!
!22. Bladerunner or Fifth Element? Blade Runner, set the standard for negative future sci-fi movies. Star Wars even tipped their hat to it in the last film.
23. Alien or Predator? Predator was way to scary and violent. Alien had a real story with a chance of beating the monster fair and square. Plus in a real monster movie, I have to feel compassion for the creature.
24. Doctor Who or the X-Files? hahaha Not the REAL Doctor Who, who used to work with my dad (seriously, dude changed his last name to Who and named his kids Echo, Apolo, Ariel, and, get this---Doctor Judge). (No way, that is so cool megan.) Don’t tell anyone, but …I never like Dr. Who. I know, I know….it’s embarrassing and I’m a little sensitive about it if you don’t mind.

*1. from ‘The Enterprise Incident’. Spock says it to the Romulan Commander during questioning.

thanks megan that was a fun total waste of time. i mean this in a nice way.

THE BODY OF THE GOWN IS FINISHED.

I could put the camicia on, slip the dress over the top of my head, have someone help lace up the sides and Huzzah!, I'd be wearing a Venitian noblewomans dress in the style between 1560-1580. The plan for the sleeves is to make 4 panels on each sleeve, linked together with jewels, a puff attached to the top and attached to the straps of the gown with loops and buttons. I wish I had pictures. It's navy blue jaquard fleur de whatever print. green underskirt and sleeves of shiny, rustley, lightweight stuff and gorgeous 3" trim. It has a split skirt and back/side lace bodice. IT'S GORGEOUS! I'M SO HAPPY WITH IT. Even if it's too hot to wear, i'm still glad i did it. I took my time and ripped and resewed everything. I really got in touch with the process and zen of unsewing.

on a side note, i was just at a ladies blog named Just Jan and she has a thing on there called FIRE THE GRID. find it at www.firethegrid.org it is something cool to do for an hour at 7:11 am on July 17th to help heal the world. does anyone remember the harmonic convergence in the 90's?

Michael Moores New Movie

Went to see 'Sicko'. Review:
MM took his time with this one and it shows. It's very upbeat given the subject of the tragic state of our health'care' system. I liked it. I thought I would write a lot but suddenly just don't feel like it. you know why. because I know no one is really reading this. not like on myspace. i miss my old life.

sister in law retreat

Here briefly is the set up. i am in the middle of sewing a ren faire dress and i went to a three day retreat with my sister in laws. it was IN a quilt shop. a bed and breakfast in a quilt shop. what a fabulous idea. Caroline's in West Branch Michigan.
the sun porch was a sewing room and i got the skirt pleated to the bodice, the trim attached and the side openings done. that's alot for me.
we talked, ate, sewed, helped each other, listened to ....and told....stories.
personally, i don't want to talk about children, husbands, aches and pains or gossip. that was all they talked about. but i knew that was how it was going to be. i love my hubby's family. i just need different friends who talk about different things.
as we were leaving i spoke with a lady who was spinning in the Long arm room. she is a historic reinacter from 1840's. i told paul about her. we hit it off INSTANTLY. i may go back to West Branch next wednesday to see if she's there. Caution is advised. i will look for red flags and go slow. dont' want to start yet another disaster. but i can't stand here much longer at this cross roads.

1. The Dress2. The Blog3. The Pills1. The Dress: Attention! I have cut the fabric. Repeat! The fabric HAS BEEN CUT. I am going ahead with it. Damn the torpedos and full speed ahead!2. The Blog: Now that I am down to one blog, i'm lonely. I increasingly try to convince myself that my friends are too young for me. Perhaps I just need additional friends. In the meantime, I am searching for blogs about women in their 50's, who DON'T TALK ABOUT ILLNESS, MEMORY LAPSE, GRANDCHILDREN, HUSBANDS OR mushy stuff.3. The Pills: I went the last two days on 5 hours of sleep. I feel my brain is saying, " come on, come on, hurry up."The negative voice is really loud and I've taken to saying 'shut up' outloud in my house when I'm by myself. I did that when I was full of anxiety over people or new pill side effects. If this is what this new med does, I don't like it. I'll give it one more week.4. Speaking of people. Where is that person? Was I too negative and that person wants to stay away from me? Am I just TOO WEIRD? Don't answer that. I dread faire this summer. How can I ever reconcile these two worlds?
