Gay marriage is wrong, I think any educated and thoughtful person in their right mind knows that. But too many people support a "compromise" (code word for stepping stone) amendment to the Constitution allowing for civil unions. Unfortunately, those of us with political foresight understand that this is simply a stepping stone amendment that will only lead to a legalization of gay marriage in the United States.
What compounds this impending dilemma is that the Massachusetts Supreme Court thinks it's duty is to modernize, update, reinterpret, and play Social Justice Brigade for the state of Massachusetts, forgetting their ACTUAL duty to the people of this state, which is to uphold the constitution (a document that was written so interpretation would not present problems later on) and rule in cases that lower courts could not rule adequately on. Last I checked, the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate had the responsibility of legislation, and their authority has been undermined by the Mass Supreme Court. It's akin to an uncle supporting a misbehaving child in his bad behavior as the father tries to teach the child the right way to act. Meanwhile, America turns into Soddom and Gomorrah each day, and it's time the quiet majority that does not support gay marriage stands up for morality and puts an end to the Supreme Court's misapproporiation of power.
In the end, it needs to come down to a vote of the people. I'm confident the people of not only Massachusetts, but the United States in its entirety, will make the correct decision regarding this abomination that has leaked its way into our society.
Fight for a vote, and vote no on gay marriage and civil unions. Stand up for what is right.
