Have you ever heard something in casual conversation or in passing and thought, "WHAT? People really SAY that?" For example, have you ever ACTUALLY heard someone use the word "babydaddy" in conversation and thought, "WHAT?" It leads to funny inner monologues for me when I hear someone say something that, for me, is reserved as a joke phrase between friends.
Last night I had one of those moments at work when I was hostessing and I accidentally sat a table in the wrong section. A server came up to me and, instead of saying, "Hey, that was supposed to be my table, I'll grab the next one, ok?", she bit my head off (TWICE!) and grabbed something off the hostess stand. I told her, "Go do your job and let me do mine". She did a little ghetto neck-wiggle thing and stormed off. After walking to the back and spouting off to a few other servers, she walked back up front and said in passing...
Wait for it....
Wait for it.....
"You done messed with the wrong motherfucker."
WHAT? WHO SAYS THAT?! Seriously!? And what does it mean? Physical violence? Something done to my vehicle? My mother killed? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS FRAYSER LANGUAGE OKPLSTHX!? These are the people that work in restaurants, folks. How did I get here again?
I inadvertantly laughed, caught aback by the sheer idiocy of what she was saying, and of course that made her ANGRIER. I covered my mouth to muffle the giggle but alas, I really think she may kill me. Please attend my funeral and bring lots of those flower-wreath things, and please make one of them spell out LOL. That would be funny.
