Shooting Spree Yesterday
There was a shooting spree with at least 10 people dead in my home town in Alabama. It started in Samson where I hung out for several years and know more than half the town. They are not releasing any names yet but in a town that small (2 red lights and a caution light) it is likely that I know someone involved. I wish I knew more.

SAMSON, Ala. - A gunman on a terrifying rampage across two southern Alabama counties killed at least nine people Tuesday, including members of his own family and apparent strangers, and burned down his mother's home before shooting himself at a metals plant, authorities said.
Police were investigating shootings in at least four different locations in several communities, all of which were believed to be the work of a single gunman who had not yet been identified by investigators.

I just found out that the house where 5 of the people were killed on the front porch is less than 3 blocks from my old best-friend's house. I spent most of my early 20s there.

The shooter was one grade below another very close friend of mine. They had gone to school together since the 1st grade. Each grade was about 50 people so everyone knows everyone.

I knew several of the victims. None of them were close friends but I knew them nontheless. The biggest part of the shooting happened on Pullum Street and I used to hang out just a few doors down from there.
