Almost there....almost...there... ;)

Well it's my Sunday shift today. Historically this has been the most quiet work day of all. Naturally, it's counterpart, Monday, is more drama filled, as all the Cowboys and Indians are present then, burning with all their agendas to fulfill. No matter, really; more than half of my entire work shift is by myself. Yet to be honest, I find it draining. Working independently can be challenging, especially when you are left unmotivated. However, I typically find nice little 'please do this' list from my Boss on occassion, or quick emails asking to look into this or that type of situation. I like that; at least it gives me a little direction instead of spuriously doing nothing the majority of the time. There is at least some satisfaction in being able to report: Hey, I took care of this, this, and this. Nor is it uncommon to broadcast 3 or 4 emails to the boys acknowleding a situation, or event which took place that I took care of. I like leaving a mark when I'm involved with something; I like not seeing that mark when I'm not. It allows me to distinguish when I'm present with something, and when I'm not; I guess it all boils down to "I was here." ;)

This next paycheck quite possibly will be the grandest of them all since I've been here. I've been given a proportional three percent raise for my annual service. For better or worse, everyone got three percent, lest if one were to get more in the department, someone else would get less. So corporate, imho, got cute, thinking they'd put the bad news onto the local supervisor instead of the comp & benefits department. Make the local supervisor decide on all the values, call it "manager input" and make the person closest to the employee decide, so that it relieves all stress from comp & benefits department. That way, when everyone is generally irritated, they won't go back to comp & benefits---look, they will say--it was YOUR manager who decided this--NOT "us". (Phew, they think; we sure got around that; hahahah, lets go order lunch again.) But that's ok. Our boss orders us lunch too; and its from Bert's NY Deli, so thumbs to you C&B. O:>
