Hm... just a couple quick updates on me before I go to bed...

I went to the beach today... put sunscreen on my face at least this time... I can handle my shoulders peeling, whatever... but my face... that's annoying. I still got a bit of pink, but it's not out of hand. My arms are the usual even shade of red/tan, and my back is more burnt than usual since I actually DID do some reading in my accounting book, and it's more comfortable to read on my stomach than flat on my back.

I got my birthday present from atarus in the mail today :) :) I got the card the other day, which was cute, and I got the package today... he got me a new scent of lotion from Bath and Body Works (to me at least... I dunno how long they've had it)... Night-Blooming Jasmine. I love it. And he got me the Larry the Cable Guy DVD :D I've already opened it and watched it :P Git-R-Done!

I think I'm going to call up Nana tomorrow (assuming the number she called me from is the number I can reach her at) and tell her she better not get me anything for my birthday. I hope I don't sound too involved with myself, thinking she might even still consider getting me something after Charley took everything of hers away, but sometimes grandparents are like that. I've got to find some way to maximize my next two paychecks because I can NOT ask nana for another dime. I would feel like the lowest of low scum of the earth.

Classes have started, and what I've had so far are intimidating, but I think I can handle it. Purchasing, I have my favorite lecture teacher, Mr. Saboe. This is the third time I've had him and I'll have to have him for a 4th too before I'm through with my degree. I like the way he runs the class with a nice balance of humor and lecture. We've already had to break out our calculators in that class and it was bliss. I heart math.

Accounting was another story though. That class is going to give me a headache. I tried to read the text today and it hurt. I thought my brain was going to explode. Mr. Teehan even said he thinks the author of the book wrote it to keep the teachers' jobs... so you'd HAVE to come to class to understand anything. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to walk away from that textbook and have retained anything. On the other hand, I made a gutsy decision to sit beside the cute guy even though the rest of the room was vacant (and each table only seats two people... so it was rather obvious)... I asked if anyone was sitting there and he smiled and said "Well you are!" Then we had a get to know you excercise where we had to partner up in twos :D and fill out a sheet on our "New Best Friend." I've become quite the ham. It's like, I'm not nervous at all anymore talking in front of my classes. I know that school like the back of my hand now and I think at least having such a familiar environment helps tremendously.

In my law class today, our teacher wasn't available... he's an actual attorney and he had some business to attend to in Texas so Mr. Saboe filled in! :) He came in and said, "I have some good news and some bad news... what do you want to hear first?" I asked if he just saved a load of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico and everyone laughed. Yeehaw, I like being a cut-up. And my teachers rock so hard. They don't mind. As long as you're not a smartass, it's usually pretty funny. And sometimes you can even get away with being a smartass as long as they can tell you don't mean it... because these teachers know you like they know family. Like I said, I've had Mr. Saboe 3 times now. The Culinary Arts faculty is about 6 people. It's guaranteed that in any program you decide to complete, you will have to take at LEAST two professors/chefs at LEAST 2 times. I've been to a 4 year university and I now go to a 2 year tech school... and the teacher/student relationship is infinitely better at tech. They know you, they care about you, they know your tendencies to not turn in homework on the third Tuesday of the month because that's when you have to stay late at work to do inventory. They KNOW you. They help you. They're like part-time dads and granddads. I know without a doubt that if I really and truly needed money for rent, I could ask Mr. Saboe and he would spot me. No joke. If I don't have money for groceries, I can drive to school for the last hour of ANY of Chef Black, Chef Stacks, Chef Jones, or Chef Gronert's lab classes and they'll make me a plate. In fact, Chef Stacks would probably make me 3 plates and hide them in the back of the cooler for me. I love my teachers.

Alright, that's enough from me... I didn't expect to write that much anyway... I wanted to write about different stuff, but that's what came out and now I'm tired and want to go to bed, so away I go. Later taters!
