You seem to have started the game already.

[She's not in the stablest of places herself, so she thought she'd give your misery some company. Then it hits her:]

Wait- Jonathan Levinson?

No problem! XD ufo_fanboy June 24 2011, 18:17:45 UTC
Nothing like getting an early start...

Do you know him?

I, uh... spoke to him once.

[Should she mention that Jonathan is dead where he comes from?]

[He had that talk with Jonathan too, about home... which definitely makes this worse.]

You'd have liked getting to know him better. During- It was a couple of months ago now, when that experiment turned everyone into family members... He was my brother at the time. Those feelings didn't go away too easily when it was all over with.

[And he latches on to siblings, even if it's usually more often sister-types.]

[A dead sibling...

Ingrid doesn't say anything for a while. Then:] I'm sorry.

...Thank you. [He sighs. That loss is making him go through losing his sister all over again and... well, it's never fun revisiting any of that.] It's like the Malnosso know exactly the worst possible things to do to us.

The fact that they can change our very personalities suggests that they know everything about us that there is to know.

Now there's a comforting thought. I have an all too unnerving feeling that you're right about that, though. We can't even begin to understand how any of their technology works...

So you... thought he was your brother? But he wasn't?

During this one experiment... we all believed we were related to each other. So I spent a little over a week thinking Jonathan was really my brother. I got to experience what it was like, having a sibling who was still around, but... losing it, losing him, has been hard.

[There are times when he can't separate out his personal issues from cases and this... is a lot like that.]

[A space of silence, then softly,] Are you an only child back home, then? [Her own sibling situation is slightly complicated.]

[...He's right there with you on the "complicated" description. So many sibling loss issues for him.]

No. I have a sister, but... she was abducted, over two decades ago. She was just a kid...

I'm sorry.

My... older sister died before I was born. [She isn't sure why she says that, except as some sort of recompense for talking about a painful subject.]

...and now it's my turn to say... I'm sorry. That's a loss no one should have to go through.

intangible_girl July 14 2011, 22:02:48 UTC
It was hardly a loss, for me anyway. I never knew her. She was more like a ghost than anything. I can't imagine having a sister, and then having her taken away.

I hope you never have to find out.
