...good lord, you're only three floors down.

...there was another kidnapping that I wasn't involved in, but did...overhear and help mop up. Might be of some help. Shall I stop by?

[Oh, Mulder had not realized that either! ...He can be a failed thing at normal socializing though.]

Actually, that would be of considerable help, I'd appreciate hearing anything you've got. Stop by whenever you're up to it.

Better now than never. I'll be down in just a few minutes.

[With that, he closes the journal.

About fifteen minutes later, Mulder will here a knock on his door.]

[Just a moment to brush a disturbingly large pile of sunflower seed shells into the trash. Aaaaand going for the door now.]

Hey, Giles, come on in. Make yourself at home.

[Mulder's apartment is pretty average in furniture, though he's already amassed a fair amount of papers and files which are stacked all over most tables and surfaces. There's also a few library books on various supernatural phenomena spread around. There's also a fishtank in one corner, which currently has... one sad goldfish swimming in it.]

[Giles steps inside, taking a quick, appraising look around.

Wow. But for the fish tank, he's forcibly reminded of his old flat back in Sunnydale.]

Thank you, Mulder. [He'll just...grab the first empty chair that he sees.]

...first Robert, then Ingrid, now you. The spirit of scientific inquiry in Luceti hasn't been this strong in a long while.

[It's amazing what can be accumulated after only a couple months. But then Mulder NEVER. STOPS. WORKING. Or at least suffers from insomnia often enough. Not that all the work has gotten him anywhere yet, sigh.]

[He'll take a seat nearby.]

Really? Then maybe that's a good sign, we've got enough of the right kind of people here, asking the right kind of questions.

[And he's met them both now, so Mulder knows the other two are definitely going to be assets to the FIGURE OUT THIS PLACE cause.]

[He'll probably find that Giles, Helios, and Frederic will help where they can. But the Halloween project is what's really taking up most of their collective time lately.]

Just so long as they ask these questions so the Malnosso can't retaliate.

[You're not the only one who's paranoid, Mulder. Speaking of which, Giles holds up his journal.]

Do you mind hiding this for a while? I don't want them turning themselves on. Some of the information I have to pass along is...a little sensitive.

That was my feeling too, and the reason why I didn't want to ask about too much over the journals. [They are, sadly, the best way of mass-contacting, but the worst for their flimsy security.] The rooms don't appear to be bugged, at least.

[Mulder spent his early weeks nearly tearing the whole room apart to check.]

[For now, though, he takes Giles' journal, along with his own, and brings them over to a desk drawer, shoving them in tightly so that they don't accidentally open. Then he comes back over.]

There, now that they're stashed away...

[Giles watches Mulder stow the journals, nods in satisfaction when he shuts the desk drawer tightly. Then he waits until Mulder has sat down before he starts speaking.]

The kidnapping I mentioned took place when another villager tried to intervene to save her friend. In this instance, we had received some forewarning of which villagers were going to be taken.

[That's another new variable that hadn't been around in the other kidnappings- knowing about it. Though he has heard so far about people intervening and not getting anywhere with their efforts.]

How were you forewarned?

Catherine fed us the list in advance.

...all for the purpose of helping a larger party infiltrate the Malnosso facility.

An infiltration? For what purpose? Did they uncover anything when they went in?

[Oh god he WISHES he could have been here and involved in that. Infiltrating secret government and/or mad scientist facilities is right down his alley.]

Oh, yes. We uncovered quite a lot - the chance to have even a few hours to wander inside a facility was quite the opportunity.

According to Catherine, the purpose was to give us a better understanding of where we were taken when we were kidnapped, with the eventual goal of ending the kidnappings entirely.

[He gestures at his eyes.] As you can see, this goal...didn't hold up.

No kidding. I wonder if Catherine was telling the truth about that, or was just using the villagers to further some other agenda of his own... But if so, why?

Did you find anything particularly useful while you were out there?

Re: [Action] consultmybooks June 4 2011, 01:34:53 UTC
We certainly did.

First and foremost, we managed to get a very good look at how security functions within the facilities. For the record, it's color coded.

[Mulder is definitely taking all of this in, because he's determined to get into that facility. One way or another, he wants to get in and poke around himself.]

Any specifics on what the colors stand for?
