Today I had a job interview at Target. I had ironed my slacks, dusted off the ol' "Tim charm", and did my research. (By the way, Target gives 5% of their revenue back to communities and supports organizations including the Red Cross and Salvation Army, which I think is really cool. Adds up to 3 millions dollars per week.) Anyways, 11:00 rolled around and I strolled from the DVD section (where TV series are outrageously priced, by the way) to the customer service counter, announcing that I was the proud interviewee, here to show off my polished interview skills and resume.
To make a long story short, I'll let you know now that I came out of the interview by 11:10 (and it didn't even start until 11:05). Why so quick? Am I really that good? I'd like to think so. But alas, I am not. You see, the manager kindly informed me that they are only hiring seasonal positions right now.
As you could imagine, for a grad school student from 500 miles away who intends on spending much time at home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, this would not work too well. I told him that the very times he is in need of help, I am going to be quite unavailable. And that was that.
Would've been nice if, oh I don't know, they had informed me that I would be interviewing for a seasonal position when they called me on Friday. That would have saved both myself and my interviewer some time and energy. Ah well.
So, that's my story.
Watch The Office tomorrow at 9 on NBC. Seriously.
