Cause and Effect

I took my heart rate monitor riding this morning for the first time. It was a little unsettling.
Basically I rode the entire 35 miles at a heart rate of between 175 and 180 bpm. The top of my aerobic zone is about 160.
This explains why, in three months of MS 150 training, I didn't lose a single pound.
I got to the top of a shallow hill and my heart rate spiked up to 190 bpm. I got left behind after that. I was completely out of breath and the heat makes it really hard to recover.
Then I went to the gym.
