Ok, I'm bored and have a computer with the internet, so here's an update.
I'm home for the summer. It's funny saying that, considering I'm sitting in the lounge at Stuart, watching TV and hanging out. Is it pathetic that I go to Stuart when I'm bored? Yeah, I thought so too!
I'm back in Dayton for the field trip to the Newport Aquarium. We took half the group today, and half the group goes tomorrow. BoWell and Ben drove ahead, so that left Kim and I and two busses. Yes, they trust me with a bus with no other chaperones. How cool is that? The trip was pretty short, but I think some of the kids were getting tired of it. I could have stayed there for much longer. Hopefully I see more things tomorrow. The only problem with a field trip is that I'm worried about my kids and not so much about the exhibit. At least I don't have to pay when I go on the field trip!
Back to being home...I worked Tuesday afternoon for a little bit. 2 hours, actually, answering the phone. Always a plus. Quite a funny scenario from the afternoon. I hope it's as entertaining reading as it was being there.
Dan from the LC office called. Here's our conversation:
C: "Good afternoon, the Henry County Bank"
D: "Who's this?"
C: "Christine"
D: "Well, well! How are you?"
C: "I'm great"
D: "What are you doing?"
C: "Answering phones" (Can you hear the sarcasm?) "What are you doing?"
D: "Making a phone call" (Can you hear the smartass-ness?)
Ok, story number 2.
Yesterday I could hardly talk (thank you Cheryl and Jorie...much appreciated). I could still talk a little bit, but I was trying to conserve my voice, so I was only talking when necessary. KJ was making fun of me, because I couldn't talk. Well, moments later, the branch manager walked in and asked if anyone had been to the Main office yet. We hadn't, and he explained that the ENTIRE building (upstairs and downstairs, all the offices, books, etc) smelled like ROTTEN EGGS! Now, KJ was going to the Main office for the majority of the day. Guess who got the final laugh!!!!! Mwahahahahahahaha!
Later, the other Karen came back to the office and was like, "Christine you're so quiet!" When she found out why she said, "Oh Christine, that's probably the worst thing that could happen to you!!"
Moral of the story: I like to talk!!
Ok, probably enough bank stories for the day.
My room is still in boxes. I hate unpacking, especially knowing that I'll have to repack in less than 3 months. But it has to be done. I can't live with my room in boxes all summer, and I don't need to take everything back to UD in the fall.
Community band had two concerts this week, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. On Tuesday, a few of us were standing around after the concert, and one of the older members made the comment "Oh why don't we have any younger members, present company excluded?" It took all my will power to not go off right there and then. As soon as Dad and I got in the car, I ranted. I said, "I can tell you EXACTLY why more younger members don't join. I've been in the band for EIGHT years. EIGHT. That's almost a decade! And I still feel like an outsider and resented for being there. I have to beg for music, some people don't recognize that I'm a member. EIGHT years. How long do I have to be in it until they stop being like that? Most people don't put up with it. The only reason I do is because I'm a bitch and enjoy aggravating those few people." AAAAHHHHH!!! Like I told Dad, not everyone is like that. But there are more than a handful that I enjoy pissing off. :)
All right, I'm done talking for now. More later....
