the past few months

Wow, I just realized how bad I've been about updating this thing. A lot has been going on, so I'll try to be brief....

JOB: I work part time as a transition teacher for the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center. I work with Emotionally Disturbed students all over Defiance County, including the ones at the Independence Education Center (IEC). I absolutly love my job. Five months ago, I never would have imagined myself doing this, but I gave it a shot, and I'm so very glad that I did! I'm learning soooo much. I survived my first IEP season, which was quite the experience! Right now I'm finishing up testing for MFEs (Multi-Factored Evaluations), and I learned how to write a report for the test results. I've done observations, both formal and informal. Plus, I get to meet so many people (see below). It's awesome! And one of the perks is that I'm not tied to a classroom for 7 hours a day. Traveling 70 miles in the course of the day is not unusual for me. Flexibility, flexibility, flexibility!!

When I'm not working this job, I sub, which is full of entertaining stories. I won't bore you with details here....everyone's had subs, so you know what it's like. I'm sure I'm biased, but I think I'm a good sub. No horror stories of things the kids have done!

NEXT YEAR: Still undecided. I'm waiting to hear from a couple different places. Keep your fingers crossed!

LIVING AT HOME: Hasn't been as bad as I thought it might be. My parents are cool about not monitoring my every move, and I'm good about keeping them aware of where I am/where I'll be.

SOCIAL LIFE: It's definitely not college, but it's not bad either. I've met some really cool people through my ESC job (see above). We've gone out to the bar once, another outing is planned, and there's a trip to Put-in-Bay planned for the first weekend in June. I've been hanging out with Megan C more, and also my sister.

BOYFRIEND: For a few weeks now, I've been dating Brian. Like I mentioned, through the course of my ESC job, I meet lots of people. One day I was at Tinora, and this guy at the photocopier says to me, "Hey, are you the new IEC lady?" to which I respond, "Yes." I introduced myself, we chatted a bit, and then I left. A few days later, I saw him in the hall, we talked some more. The next day, I got an e-mail about the outing to the bar. The next day, I found out that the guy I had talking to, Brian, wants to see me again and get to know me better. The rest is history. We've been dating since then, and both of us are really happy. I never imagined anything like that would happen. I had actually stopped looking after a previous horrible experience. He teaches science at Tinora, and I do a lot of work there, plus subbing, so we run into each other once in a while (it's not a big school) or the kids run and tell him I'm in the building. Definitely keeps life interesting. Even his principal knows and cracks jokes about us.

AUNT-TO-BE: If everything goes well, I'll be an aunt in 6 weeks or so. I'm so very very very excited!!! I'll post again with all the details when it happens.

That's life in a nutshell. As always, going through life with a smile on my face!
