Merry Christmas!

Today was very low-key. The two highlights were going for a walk on the beach and making a huge batch of gingersnaps. I helped my dad figure out his present (a USB record player, so that he can put some of his *massive* vinyl collection onto his computer, make cds for his car, and onto his iPhone), and helped my mom cook.

Speaking of cooking, I got a KitchenAid stand-up mixer! Due to my perpetual indecisiveness, instead of having picked out a color, we decided white was the best bet. I also new Joe's jeans, a JCrew fleecey thing, a JCrew silk belt, a Juicy hoodie, a bunch of pajamas, a Coach purse, and there's also the camera that I already got (I asked my dad for it, and he un-festive-ly offered to just have me order it several weeks before Christmas and have it come to my apartment, since he was too busy with work and thought for sure he would forget to order it). In case you hadn't figured it out, my parents are relatively over the idea of picking things out for me and hoping that I like them and that they fit. Over Thanksgiving, I generally come home and go shopping with my mom, where I try on/pick out anything that she's been thinking of. It works out quite well, everything fits and isn't chartreuse, but it does lack a certain element of holiday surprise.

Yesterday I went for a walk on the Goleta pier. It was surprisingly warm (70F), and there was a good bit of surf. I was pleasantly surprised to see a sea lion. Usually they're in pairs, being friendly and playful, but this one was alone, and seemed to be content just observing the people strolling on the pier. Analytical and solitary. The past few days, I've been feeling a little bit like that sea lion . . .

OH! Greg's taking me to NYC. Best present ever :) He has the kitten right now too . . . and I miss both of them.
