I've been a little annoyed at being a Per Diem Physician lately. So initially, I thought for sure I wanted to be a per diem physician which in essence is a physician that is paid by the hour, with no long term contracts an also unfortunately no benefits. The biggest upside to being a per diem physician is that you should be able to choose your own work schedule. Work when you want, play when you want. But currently , the situation I'm in is a little different, I'm working full time, with no control over my schedule, yet I don't have any benefits. Benefits being 401k, working towards a pension, health insurance and long term stability. So I'm actually getting the worst of both worlds. I think deep down, I'm kind of hoping that the clinic I'm working at is going to offer a full time job. I feel like I would have given a lot, if I don't end up staying.
